Spoiler

NPO Zenit last year showed their thermal and radar-masking material (Zenit-1). Lighter version were supposed to be used in camo suits with upper body wear and pants.

"Zenit-1" AFAIK name of that material

Material helps to scatter ~70% of thermal emmision, which as company representative said is enough, as more will create a "black blob" effect, which will draw attention. Material works as wearable cloth and works even with long contact with human body under physical stress.

Belorussian PK-01M "Razum" ("intellect").

https://vk.com/public210068228?w=wall-210068228_56918

Quote

When exactly and by whose gloomy genius was “Razum” born, I don’t know, but someone was so impressed that this miracle was taken for a supply the units of the Special Forces of the Internal troops, from where it migrated to the FSVNG.

I usually start with the pros, but there aren't any, so...

MINUSES:

Firstly, these are the dimensions - in terms of size, the “Razum” pulls on a “prismatics”, but it’s not.

  Secondly, "tactical" drums.

There are four of them, and they are visible in the photo, and each of them is the size of a plastic bottle cap. Two of them are covers for point of aim adjustment drums vertically and horizontally. One to turn on and the last to adjust the brightness of the reticle.
And I'm thinking - why the hell aren't there five of them? It's just that if you add brightness with one and reduce with the other, it will be even cooler.

Thirdly, it is an aiming mark in the form of a dot.

But in order for it to become a point, the brightness must be turned to a minimum, but you want see that damn thing on a sunny day. And if the brightness is added, then 87 of points appear and all of them begin to flicker.

   Fourth, the bracket.
Despite the fact that the “Razum” can be mounted on a universal aiming bar, it comes with a bracket-adapter to a “dovetail” of insane height.
On the one hand, this allows you to see the "mechanics" [Iron sights], but on the other hand, without an equally monumental cheek on a stock, you will not be able to work normally with the sight.

   AS A RESULT.
“Razum” is a clear example of the fact that sometimes it's better to use "machanics" and not fuck around.

Hidden in one of those 3 locations.

That’s really good, I am curious just how comfortable/habitable that suit is in direct sunlight or hot climates, it looks kinda thick and heavy.

Short description by him of this suit.

Quote

It consists of a jacket and trousers with a free cut, which allows you to wear them over the main set of equipment. Both elements have a mesh base, thanks to which ventilation is carried out - i.e. It's not hot in a suit.

Jacket.
It can fasten completely - with buttons, or can be used as a cape with fastex fixation - if I understand correctly, the second option is used together with a bulletproof vest. It has a sizeable and removable hood that allows you to use a helmet. The hood smoothly transitions into a mesh that covers the face to the middle of the chest. The mesh allows you to observe the terrain, and if necessary, can be thrown over the optical sight of the weapon.
In the area of the upper back, the jacket has an additional layer of protective fabric. Logic suggests that it additionally masks the thermal signature in the prone position, while facing the observer.

Pants.
By design, one to one, as in any mask coat, adjusted for the material.

Nit'-A [Thread-A] red dot collimating sight addopted by MVD in june of 1995.

image

High placement probably because of use of helmets with face shields that MVD used during those times.

Sight is 1x collimator sight designed for AKs. Was produced at the Novosibirsk Instrument-making Plant.

The sight can be operated at ambient temperatures from minus 50 ° C to plus 50 ° C and a relative humidity of 98% at a temperature of 25 C. In terms of survivability and resistance to external influences, the sight corresponds to group 1.14 according to GOST B20.39.304-76, climatic version of the UHL. In terms of reliability, the sight meets the requirements of category A of group 11 according to GOST B20.39.303-76.

Weight - up to 0.48 kg depending on mounting solution

Illumination of the sighting mark — tritium light element T(3)-08

The effective life of the light element — at least 5 years

Aim mark color during day is white, at darker time of the day - green (there is a mechanism to switch between day and dark-ish time of the day modes. Sight doesn't have night time mode)

FOV - 10 degrees

So, for example, when shooting from an AK74M with a "Thread–A" sight from a standing position from hands, the accuracy of shooting at a range of 100 meters improves by 4.13 times compared to a mechanical sight.

When shooting from stable positions, it is easier to maintain the necessary eye position relative to the weapon, so the positive effect of using the "Thread–A" sight is lower (accuracy increases only 1.12 times).

Scorpion backpack for PKM - some of Razvedos notes

image

Quote

   PROS.
The machine gunner has at his disposal 550 rounds ready for immediate use, which are distributed in a backpack-box (475 rounds) and a metal sleeve (75 rounds).
Taken together, this provides a fire impact, the duration of which significantly exceeds that of any hand-held small arms.

   MINUSES.
Ergonomics (in general) and weight (in particular). To begin with, "SCOPION" is simply not convenient when operating on any vehicle. On the one hand, this applies to any backpack in general, but on the other hand, if I jump out of the car without a regular backpack, it will be sad, and if I don’t have a SCORPION backpack, then it’s critical.

The flexible sleeve of the "SCORPION" is indicative, for it will collect all the branches and trees in the forest.

The box backpack severely limits ability to transport additional life support items in an assault or raid backpack.

SCORPION is not suitable for long autonomous actions.
At the same time, the “Beard”, widely known in narrow circles, noted that during the fighting in the settlements, the “SCORPION” was in demand and useful.

As for the weight of the system, it is 21.5 kg, which at first glance is a lot, but in reality it is not.
Let me remind you that the system will hold 550 cartridges, and these are 5+ “hundred” boxes, each of which weighs 3.8 kg - i.e. 19 kg, plus another 50 rounds. Those. per circle "SCORPION" weighs the same as a comparable ammoload in boxes.
At the same time, the weight of the system is rigidly fixed and well distributed (subject to proper fit), in addition, the machine gun itself is almost 4 kg lighter, since it does not have a box with cartridges - and believe me, for the weight carried in the hands, this is quite a noticeable difference.

ALL the advantages of the "SCORPION" can be realized only by those who know how to shoot from a machine gun "like a carabine" - and this is the most important point.
