1937, prior to the days they were rechambering their Thompsons to the more plentiful 7.62x25mm TT and the magwells to take PPS/PPSh stick magazines.

AKA the true Chicom Thompsons!

Also, one thing I figured I should add is, since MP-18s and MP-34s appear there and were obviously used by both sides during the Chinese civil war and prior in WWII, the MP-34 was oddly, at least as far as I'm aware one of the few guns pistols and smgs they didn't try to convert to 7.62x25mm TT despite seeing relatively common use. (well, unless it was only very few examples that never saw the light of day.)

The designs that did most notably were the Thompson, the Sten, the MP-18 (while most were 9x19mm variants, they had some that were chambered for 7.63x25mm Mauser which made things much easier in that regard), the 1911A1 and the Hi Power just off the top of my head, though I'm probably forgetting some.

I always just found it a weird outlier, My guess is that the MP-34 may have been more difficult since it was complicated as all fuck design wise, but any other theories are welcome.
