I only vote for winners.

Also the endlessly hilarious factoid is that my state senate district had been blue for 139 years. Oops.

For a good long time one of my neighbors had their wifi network named "Beto". I was utterly confused by that for months, that is until I started getting the campaign ads. My god the campaign ads. I could build a house of all the poster paper.

I'd be very interested in seeing how much money Beto has spent vs Cruz.

Look no further.

Beto has raised over 23 million and spent 9 million. The contributors are quite interesting.

Cruz's profile includes a lot of the 2016 presidential campaign money so it's harder to see what he's raised just on this Senate race.

Paso Lawmaker Can't Join Hispanic Caucus; Some Seek Rule Change

Despite representing a district whose constituents are overwhelmingly Hispanic, U.S. Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, D-El Paso, is ineligible for membership in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Some say that should change.

Apparently, this guy has nine siblings, and six of them decided to publicly endorse his opponent.  One thing the ad does not say is that one of his siblings is a former chairman of the Wyoming Democratic Party.

What the BBC cites as their objections strike me as pearl-clutching, so I am guessing there's personal shit between them and they are fundamentally motivated by being repersoned in the DNC. Just a shot in the dark, this is highly unusual and I'd love to know more.

I thought it was odd that one of the brothers in the ad is labeled as a private investigator.  Is that really a job in real life?

Oh yea, one guy I know who does it investigates disability claims. You know the old, "photographing the guy walking out just fine to the mail put claiming workmans comp for a broken leg" type deal.

He is not in my district but I have not heard anything I would consider egregious from him in the local news.

Yeah the complaints in that BBC article were like "he is skeptical of global warming" and "he thought Charlottesville was a false flag by the Left". Nothing terribly egregious.
