@Ramlaen Yeah, AUSA's a bit of a quiet affair this year. Almost passed by unnoticed, at least for me. :o

But the highlights of this year's expo seem to be a pair of AMPVs with MTMS mortar and MCT30 turrets, yet another Ripsaw variant that can launch kamikaze quadrotor drones, Archer, Rogue FIRES unmanned antiship missile launcher and the Oshkosh Stryker with MCWS turret.

Both XM30 Contractor teams have continued to evolve their designs:

GD  On further inspection, this appears to be a product-improved Ajax variant, not the XM30. Not sure why it was on GD's AUSA page...

Speaking of GDLS AJAX:

@Ramlaen: the problem is that the Booker is front-engined, which increases the height of its frontal aspect. That volume, for some reason (maybe to not degrade the gun depression?), does not decrease as the viewer moves rearwards. Merkava has kind of the same problem, though there are other factors to consider, like that rear compartment that can, in cases of emergency, be used to carry a couple of troops or MEDEVAC wounded personnel.

The Abrams does the reverse: it keeps the front part of its hull slim then imparts it volume once you move past the turret ring, all in order to accommodate the AGT1500 powerpack (which, incidentally, does cause gun depression issues when aiming backwards, since the engine deck is so high).

The Booker's 8-cylinder MTU 8V199 TE23 isn't exactly a smol boi, either:

That was the Bradley technology demonstrator from AUSA 2008. Converted the legacy turret to be unmanned, external tanks, and had composite/ceramic armor tiles. Could have been a great alternative to the XM-30 which in my opinion is a waste of money. https://defense-update.com/20080904_bradley.html
