World of Warships THRED

So I bought the Tirpitz pack.

Haven't played much of WOT or WOWs recently, pinched nerve in my back is making my left hand not work like it should.

Awww, that sucks dude.

I'm tempted by the Tirpitz, but we shall see. I'll prolly wait for a few people I know to see how it is.

I loved Kawachi, pretty much entirely on the strength of a match where I got the alpha hull in close enough to let the secondaries really go nuts. The visuals were so worth it, even with the drunken hillbillies manning the guns managing to miss from less than a kilometre away.

I finally got to try the Russian and German lines, but I'm not particularly far in. What do people think so far?

Played Warships for the first time yesterday evening. My prowess against the learner bots was of epic proportions, averaging two kills a game. Then I progressed against scrub noobs like myself for a few games and I was able to perform adequately. The trick I have learned is to get your lots of guns aimed at and hitting the enemy ships who have less guns pointed at you. Also to get your lots of ships pointed at less enemy ships.

The Tier 2 German cruiser Dresden is a wonderful little woodpecker. The guns are not powerful, but there are plenty of them and they reload quickly. Just scored 278 hits. It was glorious.

Heck yeah. I have the Tier 3 German cruiser and it is a Destroyer raper. Plus I'm not afraid of HEing battleships to death in a fiery inferno. Got 4 and and a couple 3 kills in it today.

Playing destroyers in co-op is probably harder than in randoms. The AI dodges torpedos and always, always focuses on killing destroyers

That's fine, I make it a point to reciprocate the favor.

Also, an AI/PVE mode for WOT (and bringing it back to WOWP) would get me to play more.  I don't care much about the exp grind, as most of the armor I like playing is tier VII and below, so the "Race to the top" incentive simply does not exist for me.

The Dresden is rapidly becoming my favorite seal clubber.  I recently had an 8 kill win with a pair of Double Strikes and a Confederate.  More importantly, it featured my first Solo Warrior award for surviving alone against four or more enemy ships.  It was truly epic.

I can't wait until I get my range boost skill.  I'll follow that with the ROF buff.

Oh my God, I love the USS Langley and the carrier battles. I went from a game or two below 49 percent to - I believe - a 51 percent winrate or so just by grinding the Langley.

Carrier battles are like totes hard. You...

Scout the enemy planes and wait to see if the enemy carrier driver is an idiot.

If yes, pick off his unescorted torpedo and dive bombers with your fighter.

Or if it is a multiple CV game, wait until there is a dogfight and jump in with your fighters.

LOL kill cruiser scout planes.

Or just roll the dice with a 1vs1 fighter group fight and slip your torp planes through to ruin battleships lives.

Make sure you conduct your dogfights under friendly ships for that added friendly AAA love.

This all while you're sitting in the back with your carrier hugging an island.

Hell, I barely need to use the keyboard and just click on enemies that I want to kill with almost no way they can react.

...

...

...

Dear God...

Carriers are clicker, skycancer ARTY!!!

*Ominous music*

*Castle thunder*

*Maniacal laughter*

I have been playing World of Boats almost exclusively since I got back from our bonus Alaska business trip. I can say that World of Tanks is a more dynamic, exciting and fast-paced game with multiple different ways a game can be played out. Boats on the other hand is fairly static and vanilla. With that said, Boats to me is a more relaxing game and I am less likely to lose my shit rage typing at 43 percenters in top tier tanks "guarding arty" or - even worse - fucktards in clans using "their pubbies" to pad their WN8 by parking in the back or shitters who refuse to cap or reset the enemy base cappers or whatnot.

The beauty of World of Boats is that the games take a few minutes to develop and it is almost impossible for scrubs to really LOL-suicide rush (outside of the odd DD-platoon) nor have I very often found myself in matches where the game was over in the first two or three minutes because half the team went full window licker. Short of the odd BB hiding in the corner, hoping not to get scratched, I've found because of the range of gunfire and the layout of maps, everyone is forced to be involved in the fight for large portions of the battle.

And as I've mentioned, I love playing Carriers.

Hop on TS sometimes and bug me and I'll gladly division up with you.  I have lots of different stuff hitting up to T7.

My major issue right now is folks who can't bother to learn the Zone game mode.  It is a Fast Cap match.  Someone has to be in the cap circle at all times, or at least stick close by so they can hop inside at a moment's notice.  I've seen the Zone capped without any kills by either side.  The losing team was playing it like a regular Encounter or Domination mode.
