Failure rather than achievement:

 

15th launch of VEGA failed:

 

 

The rocket was transporting a recon satellite for the UAE's army.

It went completely off trajectory shortly after separation of the second stage.

It was the first failure of that launcher (but again it doesn't have that much missions under it's belt).

   Visited Petropavlovksaya fortress in the center of St.Petersburg, they had small space-related section inside of it.

   November 1, 2019 at PJSC Rocket and Space Corporation "Energia" named after S.P. Korolev (part of Roscosmos State Corporation) an expanded Scientific and Technical Council (NTS) was held to consider a draft design of a superheavy class space rocket complex (KRK STK).

   In his speech, the Director of the Department for the implementation of the program for the creation of the KRK STK of the State Corporation "Roscosmos" I.K. Novikov emphasized that the cooperative enterprises and RSC Energia, as the lead contractor for the development of the preliminary design of the KRK STK, did a great fundamental work, which must be adopted before the end of 2019.

 

   As a result of the meeting, the Scientific and Technical Council decided to approve the results of the draft designs of the air-space complex and its components and submit them to the Roscosmos State Corporation.

 

   It was noted that the presented results of the preliminary design of the air defense system STK confirm compliance with the requirements of the statement of work, as well as the general schedule approved in December last year by the Director General of Roscosmos State Corporation D.O. Rogozin.

 

   The Scientific and Technical Council recommended that the technical design of the KRK STK be carried out in 2020.

   Data transmission from the automatic Martian station began 1.5 minutes after its landing on the surface of Mars, but sadly it stopped after 14.5 seconds due to technical failure.
   This event marked the beginning of the era of the study of Mars with the help of remote controlled vehicles/drones.

The manned spacecraft "Oryol" being developed in Russia, intended for flights to the Moon, turned out to be two tons heavier than the weight limit approved by Roskosmos, according to the materials of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (the designer and manufacturer of the spacecraft) at the disposal of RIA Novosti.

   “The excess of the mass of the manned transport ship by 2.3 tons,” the materials said.

 

   Almost all ship systems weigh more than it is required. For example, the weight of the cable network turned out to be heavier by 201 kilograms, the life support system exceeded the norm by 109 kilograms, the propulsion system - by 107, the docking system - by 90.

 

   According to the calculations of RSC Energia, while maintaining the current mass of equipment, the ship will weigh 22 tons 343 kilograms. At the same time, the technical design for the development of the ship, a document approved by Roscosmos, indicated the need to keep within 19 tons of 848 kilograms. The developers of the Angara rocket and the Yenisei superheavy rocket, which will be used for flight tests of the ship and its flights to the Moon, using these parameters. Earlier, representatives of Roscosmos repeatedly indicated in their presentations that the Yenisei superheavy class rocket was created on the basis of the need to deliver a 20-ton Orel ship to the moon.

   In this regard, RSC Energia has developed measures to reduce the mass of the ship from more than 22 tons to 21 tons. Although the current overload of 2.3 tons, as noted in the materials of RSC Energia, does not interfere with the flight tests of the ship on the Angara-A5P rocket. The carrying capacity of the carrier is enough to bring the Oryol ("Eagle") into near-earth orbit.

 

   Initially, the ship was supposed to have several versions. The version for flights to low Earth orbit was to weigh 12.5 tons, the "moon" was limited to a mass of 16.5 tons.

   The first test launch of the ship in an unmanned version was listed in the plans for 2015, and the first manned flight was scheduled for 2018. But then the plans changed many times. It was decided to make two options - one orbit and 2nd was o be a lunar modification. At the same time, the ship “got heavier” up to 17 tons in the near-Earth version and 20 tons in the lunar one. Subsequently, there was a rejection of different versions of the ship in order to create a unified 20-ton ship.

 

   Now the first test launch of the Orel ship is planned for 2023 on the Angara-A5P rocket from Vostochny Cosmodrome. In 2024, an unmanned, and in 2025, manned flight of the ship to the International Space Station is scheduled. In 2026 and 2027, flights are also planned on the Angara, and in 2028, the first launch on the Yenisei superheavy class rocket. Then, in 2028, the flight tests of the ship are planned to be completed and go to its operation. In 2029, it is planned to fly around the moon on it, and in 2030, the Russian astronauts will land on its surface.

   The Rocket and Space Corporation Energia is manufacturing the first two units of the Orel ship: the first will be a full-size model for tests at the first launch on the Angara-A5 in 2023 and the Yenisei in 2028, and the second will be a full-fledged reusable ship (up to 10 flights) for flight tests and subsequent operation.

   Astronaut Bruce McCandless (June 8, 1937 - December 21, 2017) made the first ever space flight without any mechanical connection with the ship on a manned maneuvering module MMU (Manned Maneuvering Unit).
   The exit was completed during the mission of the Shuttle Challenger STS-41B.
