Khand-e
Does this mean Kickstarter may have finally lead to something good? Donward, Sturgeon and LoooSeR
xthetenth
Dragonfall Pillars of Eternity Expeditions: Conquistador Yeah this is definitely the first good thing to come of Kickstarter, not half of the best RPGs of the current period. Donward
Hopefully the film approaches the quality of "Black Dynamite" in terms of its humor and skill in lampooning a medium.

Donward
OK. I've watched the entirety of the video. ... And I was pretty underwhelmed. I guess my biggest complaint is that rather than feeling like a send-up of 1980s action movies, it came off as a send-up of a send-up of 1980s movies. It's like someone watched 1980s parodies in South Park or (worse) Seth McFarlane's crap and the leavings from a binge of Adult Swim's offerings and decided to recycle those jokes. Also. REMOVE ANIMEA!!! The Hasselhoff music video was pretty good. Collimatrix
Sturgeon
The shooting through the phone joke was literally just taken from Danger 5. Some of the gags were funny, and I didn't hate it, but you're right. We've reached recursive eightiesness. Where now it will just be send ups of other send ups of '80s movies. Donward
Perhaps. There were a couple of funny elements. I kind of chuckled at the VCR tracking gag. And I'm glad one of the Nazi henchman in the fight stopped, thought better of it and ran off. As I mentioned, I was hoping it would be more like "Black Dynamite" which sends up 1970s Blaxpoitation flicks which actually felt authentic with it's cheesy dialogue and intentionally bad production values. And I even resolved in my first analysis to overlook the anachronisms of Viagra and a reference to MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" being in a 1980s action movie because I don't want to be that guy. Walter_Sobchak
It could have used more Gary Busey. Donward
Donward
It could have used more Gary Busey. Truth! I have no idea what the context is with these video clips or where the movie "Beyond the Ring" comes from. But it has captured the spirit of a true 1980s action movie. Instead of irony, the performers are playing their roles straight. They truly believe that the stakes they are fighting for are worth the struggle and the pain. It is a world where multimillionaires build an empire around a rec league sport. And no sacrifice is too small for the plucky underdog fighting his way to the top. Donward
did that show ever get renewed? i watched a few seasons worth of episode's on adult swim.com Man that stuff is funny, its like the old boondocks before it decided to be family guy with Black people (see- season 3) I'm not sure. I watched the first season of the animated series and it was OK. Although to be honest, the writers cheated and recycled a lot of the jokes from the movie. The movie, of course, being completely epic so it isn't that big of a surprise that the spinoff lacked some of the original punch. I was never a huge Boondocks fan. I don't mind my Black humor being militant, but Boondocks came across as both pretentious and bitter much of the time. A little bit of self deprecation goes a long way. Tied
you cant deny uncle Ruckus was a genius character from the start dont worry, if its last season is anything to go by its bascially turned into a Black Family guy, that confuses references for actual jokes still one of the funnier cartoons on TV (or whatever streaming services) at the moment, but its seen better days
