Belesarius
http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/finally-an-rfp-for-xm17-modular-handgun-system/ Wonder what the winner will be? They turned down Beretta's offer to upgrade the M9.
Collimatrix
The usual suspects, I think. That is, everyone who's run up to the football every time the Army has announced that they're totally going to do a competition for a new pistol, only to have said football snatched away at the last second. Just like the time before. I expect to see the HK VP-9, the latest version of the FNX or FNS family, that new Glock that says "Beretta" on the slide, S&W's M&P, and probably that Glock that says "Ruger" on the slide and even a Taurus (they entered a previous competition). Oh, yeah, and maybe even a Glock that says "Glock" on it, who knows.
Khand-e
XM17......G17. It's a conspiracy.
LostCosmonaut
Are they expecting to stay with 9mm, or switch to something along the lines of 5.8x21?
Sturgeon
[khand intensifies]I would be shocked if they did not stick with 9mm. The next most likely runner up is .40 S&W. I would be somewhat pleasantly surprised if anything small caliber were adopted.
mjmoss
The British Army recent adopted the Glock to replace the High Power.
Khand-e
The British Army recent adopted the Glock to replace the High Power. Didn't that happen a while ago?
mjmoss
It did, well 2013 which in small arms terms is recent haha. Glock 17 Gen 4 iirc.
Xlucine
Compared to the adoption of the high power, it's practically yesterday
