Looking sharp ,i wonder if the added weight degraded its mobility . Old BRDM is extremely mobile ,i remember when Slovenian military trialed Patria AMV and Styer Pandur II  8x8 in off road mobility trials and BRDM was set as benchmark it easily smoked them and armored Humvee as well.

After creating the Mamba-based Nyoka armoured personnel carrier (APC) and 82 mm Mortar and R107 Rocket Weapon Platforms (WPs), Twiga Services and Logistics has launched the larger Nyati APC, which is now in production.

Twiga says the Nyati is a well-protected 4×4 that uses modern main components while keeping unit costs low. It is mine- and ballistically-protected, with standard NATO STANAG Level 2 ballistic protection up to 7.62×39 mm armour piercing rounds; Level 4B blast protection protects up to 10 kg mines under the centre of the vehicle. The vehicle is suitable for a wide range of military, security, peacekeeping and policing operations.

The Nyati is powered by a 7.2 litre six-cylinder Mercedes Benz diesel engine developing 240 kW (322 hp) and driving an Allison automatic transmission, giving a top speed of 105 km/h and road range of around 850 km with 290 litres of fuel. A central tyre inflation system and run flat inserts ensure critical mobility.

Empty, the vehicle weights 11 800 kg and has a payload of 1 800 kg, which can include eight occupants in the rear of the vehicle (driver and co-driver sit up front). Access on the APC variant is via two front doors and two pneumatically operated rear doors. A turret can be mounted on the roof and accommodate weapons up to 20 mm. This can be either electrically or manually driven. In addition, two roof-mounted 7.62 mm machinegun mounts can be positioned on the rear of the roof, and there are 12 firing ports around the vehicle.

The vehicle is over 6.5 metres long, 2.7 metres wide and has a 3.8 metre wheelbase. It is 2.7 metres high and can be configured for left or right hand drive prior to deployment.

The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) is one of the Nyoka’s customers, and since 2011 Twiga’s sister company Impala Services and Logistics has been manufacturing the Nyoka in Uganda together with the Ugandan military. The first Nyoka were commissioned at the Maga Maga defence industry facility in August 2014. Impala Services continues to manufacture in Uganda and provides fourth line re-manufacture programmes for the UPDF in Mogadishu.

Starting customer for Nyati is also likely to be Uganda.

According to this article (about weight growth of modern vehicles and the impact in Czech specific conditions) the weight of IFV contenders (in specification from Czech tender) is following: CV-90 Mk4 37 metric tons, ASCOD 2 42 tons, Lynx KF-41 44 tons. The article mentions that AS-21 has 42 tons (presumably in Australian configuration).

All three bidders sent their final offers in the Czech IFV tender before the deadline. All three vehicles also meet the set of requirements. The final decision will come soon but due to the fact that the parlamentary ellections will be held at the beginning of October the decision may be taken only by the next government.

Another update regarding the Norwegian tank replacement project (P 9360).

The cost limit has been revealed to be around 19.3 billion NOK or 2.3 billion USD. That’s almost double the sum that was mentioned a year ago. Now this might be a result of lifetime costs being included and/or because parts of the production line is expected to be moved to Norway, but with an increase like that, I can’t help but wonder if they aren’t also planning on acquiring more tanks than the often quoted “84” number, which would basically only allow for a single squadron of 18 tanks for each of the 4 (current and planned) mechanized battalions of Brigade Nord.

In any case, from the part below, it seems pretty clear that this contest won’t simply be determined by who earns the highest marks during the upcoming winter trials in Norway:

“The procurement is carried out as a competition between two suppliers from Germany and South Korea, respectively. The choice of supplier will be based on the tender that offers the best overall outcome in regards to, among other things, operational, logistical, mercantile, industrial and security policy criteria.”

And further:

“The Ministry of Defense has initiated an inter-governmental dialogue with Germany and South Korea, respectively, with the intention of establishing a government agreement, where relevant elements are security policy issues, logistics cooperation, operational military cooperation, opportunities for government-to-government cooperation, opening of the supplier country's defense market for Norwegian weapons systems. products, strategic cooperation between Norwegian industrial companies and the supplier country's industry, etc. The content of the government agreement will form an important part of the decision basis for choosing a supplier.”

A final decision and contract is expected next year according to the same document, but that seems a bit optimistic to me. Hope to be proven wrong, however.
