I was looking into the various armaments tested on the M551, and I remember seeing something about a fairly advanced autoloaded 76mm. Does anybody have more info on this (or does it even exist?)

The answer to you question is that nothing exists. even if something exists, nothing can be known about it, and even if something can be known about it, knowledge about it can't be communicated to others.

Hope that helps.

Poked around in Hunnicutt's light tank book, and it seems an autoloader for the 152mm was a considered idea. Mounting the 152mm from the MBT-70 was put forward as well.

AFAIK, the original concept of the AR/AAV was a 10 ton vehicle with 152mm gun-launcher coupled to an autoloader.

Lol, already posted in Merkava thread. Apperently they are working on different APS system for non-engineers unit Namers. I thought that Meil Ruakh was supposed to work fine when infantry is near protected vehicle.

Was discussing this with Colli on TS to discuss whether or not this is heresy, he declared it Halal so, that being that.

Potential future armament for IFVs and Naval applications, the 50x330mm Supershot. Much like the 40mm Supershot CTA ammo, this isn't actually fully telescoped, and much like how the 40mm can fit certain 30mm guns with a simple barrel change, this is designed to do the same thing for 35x228mm systems. (Bushmaster already has a conversion set for their Bushmaster III cannon.)

NOW THEN, Cutaway.

35x228mm HEI-T and APFSDS-T vs 50x330mm Supershot HEI-T and uncut case, Note the identical width in the case and identical rims and even the primers are the same (the 35x228mm casing is 50mm in diameter, hence the not so shocking caliber of the supershot) and that it's the same overall length, this makes them quick changeable with very minor changes to the gun that can be done in the field.

And a computer image of both with an APFSDS-T round loaded.

Supposedly they hit like a ten ton hammer, with penetration figures at 230mm RHA at 1000m, compared to the 40mm CTA's 180mm.

Just an update to this, but the baron of big bullit actually did aquire an actual inert 50x330mm Supershot case so the CGI image is no longer needed.

It looks like he moved up the projectile a tad out of the case, but other then that looks true to form.

Also, Xlucine commented that it will still be effectively limited to the same HE charge used in the 35mm Shell, however, considering that would put at the same, if not larger then shells already used in most IFV guns, I don't really see that as a massive issue. Most are in the 20-35mm range, and 35x228mm already has a long ass overall length with a long ass projectile to match that can fit alot of filler. Only a small percentage of IFVs and other potential platforms that could use this are in the 40mm+ range, and the 40mm Long Bofors shell in particular used on the CV9040's L/70 gun (and a scant few others) is goddamn massive so even with a round this size, it would likely still be a space and weight savings. (40mm CTA is another matter, it's surely an interesting caliber.)
