While I am impressed at their ability to keep upgrading a vehicle based on the T-55, maybe they should just look for a good deal on some surplus Leopard 2 tanks?

I don't imagine 'surplus' T-72s would be any improvement on what they have currently either.  Perhaps Ukraine can hook them up with some of those T-72s they've regunned with 120mms.  You'd get both NATO standard and Russia stronk (not really), but I'm not so sure about timely procurement...
