I am familiar with the M1 Garand cam track galling problem, and the "fix" of the roller cam (which gets rid of the APE).  Does the roller actually work and prevent galling though?  What sorts of suffering are you seeing with the M1A?

 

Oh, whoops, misinterpreted your post. The M1As are just sticky, frictiony, terrible actions. I've shot good original M14s before (both TRW and Springfield), and they're better, but still not great. One of the M1As I've got for review has bolt closure problems rivalling a dirty Faxon ARAK-21, and the other isn't much better.
