Selahattin Demirtas, co-head of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), met with the Russian foreign minister in Moscow on Wednesday and criticized Ankara for shooting down the warplane.

Breaking: Syrian Army storms the strategic village of Al-Sirmaniyah in Idlib

Moments ago in the Idlib Governorate’s western countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 45th Regiment of the 1st Armored Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Joureen and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – launched a powerful assault on the strategic village of Al-Sirmaniyah after partially encircling it these past few weeks.

According to several field reports from the Al-Ghaab Plains, the Syrian Armed Forces are attacking Al-Sirmaniyah from the western flank while the Russian MI-24 Hind Helicopter Gunship bombards the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) inside of this large village in western Idlib.

   More to come…

Yeah Russia killing civilians like they've got little lightning bolts on their uniforms sure is funny.

Here's me not giving a fuck

Listen buddy, im sure from whatever air conditioned colleged dorm you wrote that comment, it seems very far away and very different from the cockpit of those evil goosestepping Russki's

Hell pratically every modern war since Vietnamn has been felt expotionally less and less on the American populace. Whether it be matters of having your son or brother go off to war or questioning the resolve of American leaders to win such wars, and then rather, if such wars are winnable

So every generation or so, young people naturally qeustion the moraility of war, espically that of killing noncombatents, or even targeting them speically

and the answer is- tough shit

Sure, in a perfect world, only military aged males would kill other only military aged males in the most humane of ways possible

But we dont live in a perfect world, we live in a world where airliners are blown up and theaters are shot up

And even if there was a piratical way to only kill Islamist when they wonder out in the open, obviously armed and no where near any civilians, whose to say thats even the most effective route

The Syrian war, like any war, will be one not by two sides lining up and fighting to determine who has the bestests army, but when the leaders of sufficent amounts of hostile populations are convined without a shadow of a doubt that they have truly been defeated and further resistance is futile

And sure, maybe if this was a war against a specific nation of rational actors it would just be a matter of targeting combatants, because eventually the generals will say that the war cant be one, and the president will say that he is tired of seeing orphans and widows created by clockwork

But this isnt, weather it be ISIS or the most moderate gluten free freedom fighter Free Syrian Army, they still are in a sense Islamist, and its pretty hard to convince someone who will be rewarded in paradise for entirety for his current actions to step off the plate.

Any sign of mercy or reprieve to such groups wont be seen as such, but rather weakness or signs that they are doing something right. And as long as they have arms attached to their torso's and working firearms chances out they will continue into the fray

The United States made this mistake of limited bombing in Vietnam, in the end, turns out the Vietnamese weren't going to play fair and recognize that "oh, they could be bombing us alot worse, but they arent, those are swell guys, we should work out a peace"

Fuck no, they regrouped, toke more and more bombings with a stiff upper lip, and eventually, though being outmatched in the conventional sense of warfare they were seriously packing in the political will to continue

And these were atheist commie's who new being in the wrong place at the wrong time during a B-52 raid meant that their existence was permanently kaput

But that didnt stop them, they rebuilt, they kept going into the jungle, they kept reloading the SAM batteries, and eventually, well, i think you knew what happened

And while im not paranoid enough to entertain the notion that eventually Syria will fully fall under the wings of Islamism, i do certainty know that anything sort of unconventional surrender, i.e. large parts of Syria being left to the Jihadists, will simply result in continuation of attacks sometime in the near or otherwise future.

And right now the best chance of getting anyone to surrender in that camp is the bomb them into the stone age, if that means striking at the mothers and daughters of the people who would have no problems murdering mothers and daughters in Paris, Damascus, and countless other places where Radical Islam, moderate or otherwise, has destroyed the lives of those with not the most abstract connection to the war, and continuing to support the efforts of, well then i say that is more than necessary

And doing anything less than as mercilessly and efficiently ending the ability and most importantly, will, of the enemy to make war, is the pure cuckholdry, in the purest sense of the word

Yeah Russia killing civilians like they've got little lightning bolts on their uniforms sure is funny.

You are funny in your ability to be so double-faced.

Guys, killing civilians like they've got lighting bolts on their uniforms was happeneing in Est. Ukraine in form of Azov, Donbass, Aidar, Shakhtarsk, Tornado battalions/regiments. Amn.Int. report claims that in a month Russian airstrikes killed 200 'civilians' (even if areas, controlled by "moderates" are pretty deserted, as around 5/7% of population lives in ISIS/Nusra/Ash-Sham/etc. controlled areas,) while OSCE only in one old Soviet mine discovored around 195-205 bodies of people, that were killed (shot in the head mostly) while being captured by Ukr/pro-Kiev forces. Where was you when this happened and discovered?

If you want to see airforces, that deliberatly target civilians, just look at Ukr SU-25 attack on Luhansk at 02.06.2014 or June 16 bombings of Snezhnoe.

Yesterday SyAAF and Russian VKS managed to kill a lot of commanders of Eastern Ghouta islamists.

Yuri Lyamin's blog post about that:

In Syria, there is a rather serious success. Syrian air force on December 25 bombed the headquarters of one of the largest militant groups in Syria - "Jaish al-Islam," which controls the eastern suburbs of Damascus, and of the agricultural belt around it (the so-called East Ghouta).  As a result of an air strike many warlords of the "Jaish al-Islam" and its allies of "Ahrar al-Sham" were killed, while they were gathered at the meeting, amongst assasinated - the direct leader of the "Jaish al-Islam" - Zahran Alloush, as well as his deputy, and Press Secretary.

Alloush and "Jaish al-Islam" were a very big bet made by Saudi Arabia, and he was one of the most famous commanders of insurgents in Syria. The liquidation of such a charismatic leader, and other commanders could deal a serious hit to the "Jaish al-Islam" and the Saudis plans.

You may recall that the destruction of  the leadership of the group "Liwa al-Tawhid" near Aleppo, which was headed by Abdul Qader Saleh in the autumn of 2013 as a result of air strikes by Syrian Air Force, eventually led to the collapse of it into smaller parts/groups.

Syrian Air Force Intelligence behind the Alloush assassination in rural Damascus

Yesterday, the prominent Islamist rebel commander of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) – Zahran Alloush – was confirmed dead after the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) delivered a powerful airstrike in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus, killing the latter and several other Islamist rebel commanders in the process.

Following the death of Zahran Alloush, Al-Masdar News investigated the events that ultimately led to his assassination via an airstrike from the Syrian Arab Air Force; this required our news team to reach out several sources in Damascus, including intelligence officers and high-ranking officers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Al-Masdar News was informed by a trusted source in Damascus that the Syrian Air Force Intelligence was behind the assassination of Zahran Alloush and several of his deputies.

According to Al-Masdar News’ source in Damascus, the Syrian Air Forces Intelligence has infiltrated Jaysh Al-Islam’s high command and several other Islamist rebel groups inside the East Ghouta region.

One of the intelligence officers that infiltrated Alloush’s network had revealed to the AFI the precise location of the Islamist rebel command meeting that was taking place in the East Ghouta; this ultimately led to the death of Zahran Alloush and his comrades.

This is not the first time that the Syrian Air Force Intelligence has carried out an assassination; however, this is by far one of their largest operations during this war.
