Syrian conflict.

It has been nearly 3 years since the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has last entered the large Damascene city of Hajjar Al-Aswad and the Al-Qadam District; however, the pro-government forces are eager to make up for lost time, as the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) finally bids farewell to this part of southern Damascus.

For several months, ISIS has been entrenched in the city of Hajjar Al-Aswad (Black Stone) and the large Damascene district of Al-Qadam, leaving many bystanders in fear of the aforementioned terrorist group’s intentions to advance north towards the Syrian capital of Damascus. Luckily, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the Palestinian resistance all kept the terrorist group in check in southern Damascus, while the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) either colluded with or lost ground to the ISIS forces.

On Thursday morning, ISIS agreed to abandon their posts at the Al-Qadam District and the city of Hajar Al-Aswad, as long as they were provided transportation to the Al-Raqqa Governorate from the Syrian capital.

According to a military source inside of the Damascus City, 4,000 ISIS fighters are being transferred to the Al-Raqqa Governorate after negotiations between rival Palestinian groups proved successful. This is a major victory for the Syrian Government as they are now in control of a large chunk of southern Damascus, which was once the most volatile area inside the Syrian capital.

Hezbollah and Iraqi reinforcements arrive in southern Aleppo to begin the march to Idlib

Another massive wave of Hezbollah and Iraqi reinforcements have arrived inside the town of Al-Hadher in order to begin the third phase of their large-scale offensive in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside.

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and their allies from Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba, and the National Defense Forces (NDF) completed the second phase of their southern Aleppo offensive after they captured the strategic town of Khan Touman and the village of Al-Khalidiyah; this resulted in the obstruction of the Islamist rebels main supply line from the Idlib Governorate to the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.

However, these reinforcements are not just anybody; these fighters come from the elite Lebanese resistance organization known as “Hezbollah” and one of the largest Iraqi paramilitary groups “Liwaa Al-Badr” (Al-Badr Brigades). For Liwaa Al-Badr, the battle in southern Aleppo marks the first time that they have actively participated in the Syrian Conflict.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has become a seasoned veteran in this war, launching several large-scale offensives in the last three years, while becoming one of the most successful forces on the ground in Syria.

The main objective for these reinforcements will be the capture of the Aleppo-Idlib axis that has been under the control of the Islamist rebels force well over two and a half years.

The battle for the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus has proven to be one of the most violent fronts in all of Syria after almost 4 years of non-stop fighting between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam (formerly “Liwaa Al-Islam”).

However, the tide of this war has shifted and it is no long in favor of the Islamist rebels that once flourished in the East Ghouta due to its abundance of farms and rough terrain that make the Syrian Arab Army’s tanks immobile on the battlefield. Recently, the Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade and the 416th Regiment of the Republican Guard seized the strategic Marj Al-Sultan Military Airport and its nearby village, marking the end of Jaysh Al-Islam’s presence at this strategic site in rural Damascus.

Now, the situation in the East Ghouta has turned from bad to worse for the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam, as the Syrian Armed Forces are currently pushing north from Marj Al-Sultan to the imperative city of Harasta, where the majority of the firefights in this region are taking place.

On Christmas Eve, the Syrian Arab Air Force delivered a gift to the Islamist rebels in the East Ghouta via an airdrop of a large amount of leaflets reading “surrender now; you have nowhere to go”.

The leaflets were met with anger and frustration by the Islamist rebels as they posted the image of the leafleft with an agitated remark via their social media accounts.

Breaking: Tiger Forces capture 2 villages in east Aleppo

The Syrian Arab Army’s elite special forces division known as the “Tiger Forces” are advancing near the Kuweires Military Airport once again, capturing two villages from the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside.

According to a military source that is embedded with the Tiger Forces in east Aleppo, the latter – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Al-Salamiyah and Aleppo City – imposed full control over the villages of Jarouf and Tal Sharbi’ after an intense battle with the ISIS terrorists along this volatile front on Saturday afternoon.

The source added that both Tal Sharbi’ and Jarouf are both located to the north of the Kuweires Military Airport and neighbors the captured village of Nasrallah.
