we are speaking of some  things we know little information about , tomahawk is subsonic but it is tiny and has a rather small rcs , besides , JASSM and SCALP have LO features.

the damage made most definitly does not look like it was done by 76 missiles  , thats one big plot hole.

Well, while I have a hard time believing that nearly 3/4 of the missiles were intercepted using  (mostly) obsolete equipments, I find equally hard to believe that not a single one was intercepted (or even had a random failure for that matter).

There's that word again.....But who was the performance actually aimed at?

Both to the general public and to Putin.

Since we said that we would strike if chemical weapons were used (regardless of wether or not it was actually the case), not doing it would had been a huge loss of credibility and would have allowed Putin to push his rhetoric (muh West weak, they fear über Russian systems) further and further.

The strikes were just a political statement, the military effects of the strike were secondary and indeed probably weren't that great.

Nobody want an open war between Russia and the west over Syria, and I think that Toxn got it right:

My take is that the truth (such as can be determined) is that the targets were carefully chosen to fit inside the narrow convergence of 'won't look like nothing', 'won't start a general war' and 'won't result in lots of dead civilians'. There was probably at least some element of forewarning involved, such that the facilities may have been evacuated just prior to the attack.

Which, apparently, is a bloody site more than our media are capable of doing, for all their resources.

The "media" really does not have a lot of good resources. Look at what is considered reporting these days. Most shit is just pulled off AP or other wire sources. Not a lot of actual journalism going on. Nate is a much better journalist than 95% of the reporters out there, at least on subject matter that he's comfortable with

The pantsir -S1 shot down 23/25 missiles it engaged according to the RuMOD and i would not be surprised , It is fairly modern , and it has optical backup so i wouldn't think creating false radar targets will completely empede it.

As for the older systems , perhaps they received data from the russians. It is a mystery.

After SAA applied some pressure on Rastan militants they asked for ceasefire and negotiations. Greenbuses are standing by.

At 17-00, cease-fire was announced after a meeting of the command of local militant detachments with the Russian military at the Dar el-Kabir pass.
The militants agreed to negotiate with the representatives of the SAA with the mediation of the Russian military, and the talks will concern both the eastern part of the pocket including the territory of southeastern Hama and the rest of the territories in the north of Homs, which are still controlled by jihadist troops.

I'll dig up a bit further but apparently we were supposed to fire another salvo of 3 missiles from the sea.

Apparently either the Acquitaine or the Auvergne had an unspecified technical problem and the Languedoc (which was here for redundancy) had to take over.

But after that a second salvo of 3 missiles was supposed to be fired and the fregate responsible for it missed the time window.

So two separate issues (technical and operational) pilled up.

Also 5 rafales were sent and each can carry 2 SCALP but only 9 were fired from the air.

So either the 10th was here for some level of redundancy as well or there was a problem with it, and in this case it should have been dropped in an unhabited area.
