Syrian conflict.

It's getting crazier every day. This little skirmish involving US patrol is just a small part of the overall craziness. Anyway I don't know what US soldiers expected when they were travelling into an area which is known for being heavily pro-government and where the local tribe previously clashed also with Kurdish Asaysh. There was some damage to the US vehicles from stones and small arms fire (pierced tyres, broken bullet-proof glass etc.), on the other hand the local tribe had one killed and another wounded. In the end the Russians came to calm the situation. There was no US airstrike despite some reports about it.

On Aleppo front TSK openly supported Jihadi counter attacks with artillery and MLRS fire. Despite that and use of SVBIED (artillery of a NATO country covering an SVBIED attack is something completely mad for me) all counter attacks so far failed. SAA is said to use BM-27 and BM-30 in the counter-battery fire. Already in the morning TSK announced that 14 soldiers were killed and 45 wounded in Idlib. The number is likely bigger by now.

There is even an unconfirmed claim of M-60 tanks being used today in the counter attacks.

Despite that SAA continued its advance, however yesterday's info about capture of Karf Nouran was not true.  Today SAA took five villages north-east of Kafr Aleppo along the M5 highway.

According to recent reports SAA captured Kafr Naha town and advancing towards Urem al Kubra along the road No.60 from Aleppo to the west.

A lot of fighting is reported also from the eastern front between SDF+SAA and SNA+TSK artillery.

That information was incorrect however SAA kept advancing today despite snowfalls. Here a map from @suriyakmaps

   ANKARA
On Monday, February 17, the Turkish delegation will leave for Moscow to discuss the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in Munich.

According to the minister, Ankara and Moscow are making joint efforts to stop the intensified attacks of the forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime on settlements in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
Turkish and Russian consultations on Idlib will continue, the head of Turkish diplomacy said.

Northern Aleppo is liberated! According to Al Masdar, jihadists fled the pocket.

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/battle-of-aleppo-city-ends-in-syrian-army-victory-after-7-years-of-fighting/

"In addition to capturing Kafr Hamra and Layramoun, the Syrian Army also took control of the Al-Zahra’a Association Quarter, which was the main battlefield in Aleppo city for most of the war.

At the same time, the Syrian Army has also captured the last towns in the Anadan Plain, including Hraytan, Babis, and ‘Anadan."
