Syrian Army Seizes the ICARDA Farms in Northern Kuweires

On Saturday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 2nd Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo – continued their military operations in the northern countryside of the Kuweires Military Airport after a brief hiatus to combat the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) along the strategic Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

With the recent arrival of several Iraqi and Iranian reinforcements from the Latakia Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies chose to launch their assault from the recently captured village of ‘Arbeed on the ICARDA Farms that are located just north of the Kuweires Military Airport.

The Syrian Armed Forces and their allies began their powerful assault on the ICARDA Farms around 11 A.M. (Damascus Time), striking ISIS’ defensive positions at the southern perimeter of this former agricultural school; this resulted in a series of fierce firefights between the Syrian Armed Forces/Hezbollah and ISIS.

According to a field journalist on the ground with the SAA’s 2nd Division in east Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies seized the ICARDA Farms, killing over 20 enemy combatants from ISIS and destroying 4 armored vehicles that were mounted with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns.

The capture of the ICARDA Farms has allowed for the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies to build a buffer-zone around the Kuweires Military Airport’s northern perimeter, leaving the southern perimeter of the base as the only contested flank.

Breaking: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Launch Fresh Offensive in Northern Aleppo

Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – launched a fresh offensive assault in the Aleppo Governorate’s northern countryside, targeting the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen’s positions at the Al-Malaah Farms.

According to a military source in the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies are specifically targeting Jabhat Al-Nusra’s missile site that is the primary source for the rockets/missiles fired into the northern suburbs of Al-‘Aziziyeh, Al-Ashrafiyeh, Suleimaniyeh, and Al-Khalidiyeh.

The military source added that this operation is currently ongoing and will seek to dismantle Jabhat Al-Nusra’s capabilities to inflict terror on the densely populated neighborhoods of Aleppo City; these  indiscriminate rockets/missiles and hell-fire cannons launched towards the provincial capital has become a daily occurrence as the Islamist rebels continue to lose ground all over the province.

Mazra’a Al-Malaah (Al-Malaah Farms) are strategically located west of the Syrian Government held town of Handarat and east of the rebel stronghold of Haritan; if the Syrian Armed Forces want to attack the Islamist rebels in west Aleppo, this is the gateway to that front.

Syrian Army Captures the Helicopter Airfield in the Strategic Marj Al-Sultan Airbase

On Saturday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Damascus City and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – continued their large-scale offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus, targeting this Jaysh Al-Islam stronghold at the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airbase.

The Republican Guard and their allies began their assault at the southern perimeter of the Helicopter Airfield inside the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airbase, striking the Islamist rebels from Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) with a powerful ground and aerial assault.

Accordng to a military source with the Republican Guard, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed full control over the strategic helicopter airfield that is situated to the south of the Marj Al-Sultan village, following an intense series of firefights with the Islamist rebels from Jaysh Al-Islam.

The military source added that Jaysh Al-Islam was fighting alongside the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and a number of small Islamist rebel groups that are operating in the East Ghouta region of the Rif Dimashq Governorate.

With helicopter airfield under their control, the Syrian Armed Forces are on the brink of capturing the entire military airbase; this would mark the first time since the summer of 2012 that the pro-government forces have advanced this deep in the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airbase.

If the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airbase is captured the Syrian Armed Forces, they will be in position to attack several untouched villages in the East Ghouta.

Islamist Rebels Under Attack in Northern Dara’a: Syrian Armed Advances on Sheikh Miskeen

The Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Izra’a and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – made several advances in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside after making another push to reenter the strategic town of Sheikh Miskeen on Saturday morning.

According to a military source from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division, the latter and their allies captured the military housing compounds, the northern farms of Sheikh Miskeen, and the Water Resource Facility after a series of intense firefights with the Islamist rebels from the Free Syrian Army’s “Southern Front Brigades”.

Following the capture of the aforementioned sites in northern Dara’a, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division and their allies are now in position to launch an assault on the imperative rebel-held town of Sheikh Miskeen, marking the first time in over a year that the pro-government forces have reached its outskirts.

The Syrian Armed Forces and their allies have positioned themselves for a large-scale offensive in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside; however, they have yet to begin their assault, despite surrounding several villages in the Dara’a Triangle, including the integral hilltop town of Tal Al-Harrah near the Al-Quneitra Governorate’s border.

Should the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division capture the town of Sheikh Miskeen, they will be within 10km of the large city of Nawa that was captured by the Islamist rebels during their offensive last year.

Interesting.  Are we certain that's not airsoft?

The photo appears to be from sometime in 2012. According to this article from 2011 a blackmarket FAMAS was only $3,700 in Lebanon.

One needs to always take the "moderate islamists" stuff with a spoon of salt, as Assad needs to destroy any opposition so that the world is forced to pick between him and ISIS. Note how pro-regime and Russian media almost never refers to specific organizations, instead preferring "terrorists" or "Islamists". Or how the Syrian military has collaborated with ISIS against the rebels/Kurds.

If you read almasdar news article, they always name organisations which were in combat.

Don't try to push this idiocy about "moderates" here.

FSA, Nusra and ISIS periodicly coordinate their actions against Syria army, as recent attempt to cut of Aleppo SAA units showed (simultaneous attacks from both sides of highway area)

Russian medias also many times (i posted TV reports here many times) refer to Nusra, Akrar Ash-Sham and several others.
