S20 model, which is basically the export version of the Type 039A-C/Type 041 Yuen Class diesel electric hunter killer submarines, Some are being sold to Pakistan who will join Thailand as the second nation to use exported Yuens.

Keep in mind the A-C revisions of the Type 039 are significantly different then the prior Base/G models to the point the latter are referred to as the Song class.

Another Type 052D class nearing completion, note the incomplete sensor tower and gun mount, judging by the state completion, this is likely either future pennant number 120 or 154, both of which have yet to receive a name.

I've seen this image pop up in quite a few places, though the part where some of the jets on the deck appear to be J-25s, a project that was never meant for actual production raises some red flags.

My eyes could be deceiving me though.

Good! Thank you.

A new 3D CG video just made by my friends who work in the media, it shows the construction process of our new carrier with data, and the different between the new one and Varyag.

In this video, "山东" (ShanDong, which named after one of our province) means the new carrier current under construction, "辽宁" (LiaoNing, named after another province, where these 2 carriers were building/built) means the carrier we bought (Varyag).

So, this has been talked about for a bit (as it was mentioned here), but in addition to a new Destroyer design, it looks like there could be a new Frigate design aswell, designated the Type 057 (I find this rather odd, as the construction of the Type 054B block is just gearing up.)

Also, this is from a Russian news site, they may have translated wrong.

According to glorious Russian media!

"China finished design of a new frigate of the Type 057 project of the fourth generation, reports mil.news.sina.com.cn portal. It is expected that construction of the ships of this type will begin at the end of the 2014th ─ the first quarter 2015. Allegedly, a series of frigates of the new project will consist of 20 ships, and their delivery of Naval Forces of China will come to the end by 2025. As a part of Navy of People's liberation army of China frigates of the Type 057 project will replace the same quantity of the outdated ships of a similar class of the Type 053 project. For the first time the ships of the Type 057 project will be equipped with the hybrid power plant which will allow to reduce significantly their noisiness in comparison with frigates of the previous projects. Displacement of Type 057 will make about 4-5 thousand tons. The ships it is planned to equip with new radar stations, installations of vertical start-up of rockets and surface-to-air missile missile systems. In a design of frigates technologies of a low-visibility will be applied. Two anti-submarine helicopters and prospecting unmanned aerial vehicles will be based on frigates of the Type 057 project. In the middle of March, 2013 of Naval Forces of China took advantage of a new frigate of the Type 056 project constructed with application of technologies of a low-visibility. As a part of fleet the ship with board number 582 received the name "Bengbu" in honor of prefecture in the province Ankhoy in East China. As expected, in interests of the Chinese military 20 ships of this kind will be constructed."

Translations errors are by virtue of the fact Mandarin-Russian-English doesn't generally go well.

Interestingly enough, Some Russian sources were also advising the Russian Armed forces to purchase some Type 054As as escort vessels last year, which would be a pretty amusing case of the shoe being on the other foot.

This is a fan made design, end.

Next time you see any 3d CG picture marked with "西葛西造舰", they are all fan made design, or at least most of them.

The true new Chinese FFG which we are working on are 054B (gas turbine powed, basicly looks like Singaporean Formidable-class frigate) and 058(light frigate like 056, I don't know its detail).

Video of the Type 001A that U-47 was trying to link before, basically the sister ship to the Type 001 with some modifications done to the design as shown.

(Note, please don't give me any upvotes for this post, I merely reuploaded it for U-47, upvote him instead.)

Again, fan made design, as you can see this is basicly a Ford-class carrier. And we have no any kind of J-25 so far, they do talked about a carrier-born J-20, but it's just a plan so far.

From what I understand, the J-25 was never meant to be actually put into service, it was merely a testbed to see how viable 3D printing an airframe was and how much you could feasibly do with such technology while seeing how much it would cost.

The Al Khalid derived from Norinco Type 90IIM MBT. It was in the early 90s, when India started to test their Arjun MBT. Pakistanis looked for a MBT design that could be produced by herself.
Norinco provided their own Type 90IIM prototype, this is an MBT design which comprised many Western components, such as engine and transmission.

      There were 4 prototypes for Al-Khalid development, namely P1, P2, P3 and P4.
P1 has a Chinese tank diesel engine with ZF LSG3000 transmission.
P2 has a British Perkins CV12 Condor diesel engine with French SESM ESM500 transmission.
P3 has a Ukrainian KMDB 6TD-2 2-cycle boxer engine with its own twin planetary gearbox.
P4 has a German MB871 engine with ZF LSG3000 transmission, similar to South Korean K1 MBT.

Norinco and Pakistanis planned to adopt one of the Western powerpack at first, but due to CoCom (Coordinating Committee for Export to Communist Countries) restrictions, China is under embargo, which means China would not import weapons form Western countries. Obviously P3 powerplant would be the only choice. All those descriptions on the internet about ESM500 in Al-Khalid is fatally wrong.

The Al-Khalid pre-production batch and production version all equipped with Ukrainian KMDB 6TD-2 powerpack.
It is an extremely compact design, the engine laid transversely in engine room, twin planetary gearboxes connect to both left and right end. The 6TD-2 has two crankshafts: the front one drives the mechanical supercharger, while the rear one drives the gearboxes. The cooling system covering the whole engine room, the engine itself has no mechanical connection to the cooling system, and the cooling system doesn't need mechanical drive. The cooling system based on a unique principle: exhaust gas driven ejector. The exhaust gas from the engine is injected through the outlet ducting, produce a low pressure in the outlet side, that will suck in cold air from the inlet side. This principle is also used in the T-64, T-80UD and T-84, but as far as I know, Swedish Ikv 91 is the only western tank that have similar cooling principle.

As a result, the total length of powerpack is significantly shortened, much more shorter than the European powerpack mentioned above. This leads to a spare storage room between the fighting compartment and the engine compartment. This storage is for extra ammunition and fuel, when turret points 3 or 9 o'clock, the top cover of the storage could be opened from outside, containing 10 rounds for main gun, with projectiles on the outsides, semi-combustible charges on the inside.
The data table from HIT also describe the ammunition capacity as 39+10, means that 22 ready rounds in the T-72 type carousel autoloader, 17 backup rounds scatter around the fighting compartment, and extra 10 rounds could be carried in the storage room.

The driver of Al-Khalid control the vehicle via steering wheel and an automatic gear control box. The steering wheel and gear control box send electrical signals to the computer, then computer control the hydraulic servo actuator to perform engage and disengage of brakes and clutches, making steering and gear changes, as well as adjusting the speed and torque of the engine.

Mechanically the gearboxes are nearly the same as T-64s and T-72s, but have different side reducer unit. The KMDB side reducer unit is designed as a secondary gearbox, acting like a forward-reverse selector. When both reducers were put into reverse, the vehicle can reverse using the normal forward ranges. From 1st gear to 4th gear, all could be used as high speed reverse, and that's why KMDB said this is a 7F4R gearbox system. And if only one reducer was put into reverse, the track will be driving in opposites direction, causing the vehicle turns within its tracks, a.k.a. pivot steer or center steer. T-84 also applied this driving and steering system.

The advantages of Al-Khalid's powerpack is the versatility: all 3 types of MBT in the Pakistanis arsenal, T-80UD, T-84, Al-Khalid, share the same engine and gearbox.
