The unit received a batch of 10 combat vehicles, which were modernized. On August 2, 2020, at the Alabino training ground, a ceremonial transfer of military equipment took place, the first live fires from all tank weapons will be held next week. Tankers are ready for their operation, since they were trained on the T-80BVM of the previous batch, which was received earlier. /.../ In fact, the first battalion set of modernized T-80BVM tanks (31 tanks) under this contract entered in 2019 for the rearmament of the tank battalion of the 200th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet. The second battalion set, apparently in 2020, will be transferred to the 4th Guards Kantemirovskaya tank division, which by now, obviously, taking into account the transferred on August 2, has already received 20 tanks. Being scrapped? Seems like they are quite neglected recently, these tanks are completely obsolete now. The reason could be that upgrading the T-80U currently in service would take them away from active first-tier unit, i.e. they may be upgraded later when they are replaced with the BVM and not needed for the service. Also, T-80U (especially UE-1) has much better commander's station. Yu.V. Andropova on the T-80BVM was adopted this summer. Previously, it was planned that the connection would gradually switch to diesel T-72B3. It is planned that the newest combat vehicles will start entering the division next year.
