After all, PCs used to have discrete sound cards and networking cards, and the CPU does all of that now. The GPU has really been the last hold-out, and will likely be swallowed by the CPU, at least on low and mid range machines in the next few years
honestly i believe that CPUs will be swallowed by the motherboards in the future as CPU performance means less by the day to the average user & most good MOBOs already have a miniaturized processor
