  1. This sort of stuff really gets me excited. Now that barrels are almost hashed out thanks to the wonders of ECM milling technology, it becomes significantly harder to limit the global proliferation of firearms by people DIYing them on their own. Basically, this guy along with another guy I know called Jeff have been successful not only in rifling a steel barrel, but also drilling it completely. The ECM process doesn't care about hardness or whatever, only conductivity as far as milling goes so even 4150 steel is no problemo. Sure there's still limitations regarding making nitrocellulose propellant, but Jeff has some cool ideas on making a "boom loom" that takes cotton string through an automated process that nitrates it and then washes it, along with other neat things like nichrome electrical primers. I think the future looks pretty bright, don't really need to depend on an incompetent NRA or some men in black dresses if technology marches forward enough.
  2. https://mega.nz/#!WsNSTajK Link to a DTIC powerpoint on tubular projectiles for use in machine guns. I'd link the original DTIC here but the link seems to have gone kaput unfortunately, so I upload the powerpoint to here. Basically a short little overview over some R&D on projectiles designed with a Busemann's Biplane shape. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Busemann's_Biplane https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/491944.pdf "retardation of tubular projectiles made from the 20mm american ball" https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/b087370.pdf "30mm tubular projectile" Some additional PDFs on the matter.
  3. I've got some material you guys might be interested in from a guy called Jeff. Partially 3d printed revolving pump action shotgun he's done some work on. While it looks good here it still needs a bit more work from him. He's also done some really interesting work with home ECM drilling. I've got a link to an album of his short videos and pictures of his progress. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPL_BjMquujSsvZ7GI4agkzNRans8eWeSYShzKFX5LzEi_dAU1oZk__nX-mUifCOA?key=ZkFVUWNKYW1XSGRMT2doMGdhYWRlXzVIQWM2Ty1n This doesn't include the hobbyist work he's done on DIY nichrome electric primers or the ECM rifling he's successfully been able to do, if you guys are interested I'd be happy to try and post up that material for you, along with any other 3d printed gun tidbits that are relevant.
