How does the XV-5A exhaust exit the vertical fan? I saw a closeup of the inner circumference of the fan and it looked like ram valves were installed all around the circumference at the bottom of the fan.
Also - why not use ball bearings around the fan circumference to support the fan instead of a central hub? Only reason seems to be - easy maintenance with fan driven at circumference and bearings at center.
Also - a modern electric rim driven fan and removable jet engine with generator or batteries, why not? Just weight? Need to run one of these indoors at low speed.
My preference: electric rim driven fan with option for pneumatically driven from jet exhaust for use outdoors at the size of a wheelchair.
