I think I've mentioned it before, but I'll plug John Mcloughlin's The Helix and the Sword, a story in which, among other things, Yuri Gagarin is worshiped as the trickster god who was the first to defeat the evil clutches of gravity.

That's pretty interesting. Now I want to create my own pantheon of deified historical individuals to replace the gods of old.
