    There was some discussion of it on tanknet.  It sounded to me like the thermals were a retrofit.

    Note the armor shape,it looks like the Merkava very much,it should be the one which could not fit ERA blocks,instead it was some type of NERA.
    the reason it did not enter service is that the side armor protection was too poor.

    Still have some questions.
    What type of engine have been used on 477a1 and 477A?
    I wonder whether all the 477 were built in Ukraine while the 477a and A1 were built in Russia.
