  1. My saga involving OldNavyManCVN65 continues. The first time around, I got the drop on his T28 prot. with my M4A1 Rev. Two shots in a row went into his fuel tanks, and he burned to death. After such events transpired, he opened a dialog in global chat detailing his desire to "hunt me down, tear out my heart, and feed it to me." or something along those lines. At any rate, this was a lengthy exposition on his part, filled with profanity and terrible spelling. He also sent me a PM after the battle to continue to his rant. Long story short, just to troll him some more, I sent WG some screenshots and the replay. The apparent result was a week long ban, judging by his activity stats.

Anyways, I encountered him again, and this was the result. Sadly, the battle was lost, but the tears make it worthwhile.

  2. Kerbal engineers developed a new long range research aircraft from the information provided by a group of kerbonauts rescued from low orbit. They claimed that to have come from an alternate reality. Catastrophic events involving the nuclear propulsion system of the experimental carrier forced them to abandon the ship. The details regarding subsequent events are unclear, but somehow three of the escape pods slipped into a different dimension.

  3. From my discussions with a person who is involved wit the management of a local natural gas burning power plant, the coal fired plants in the area are used to take up the base load, while the natural gas plants can throttle to cover fluctuations in the wind and solar production. This single plant burns an absolutely hilarious amount of gas. IIRC, he said that in one month they burned more gas than North Dakota burned in a year. From my understanding, currently you could only replace the coal and oil fired plants with nuclear. You would have to maintain some variety of quick response ability to cover fluctuations in grid loading during the day. I imagine that this would still be the case even if you got rid of wind and solar all together, but you would have a more predictable change in grid loading.

It's a real shame about that natural gas plant. It used to be the only commercially operated nuclear reactor that used helium as a working fluid. Maybe we can find a way to use hippies as a renewable energy source. They might actually provide some benefit to society, then.
