their most powerful HMG was the .50, against which the BMP-1/2D was protected, except the rear doors

The lower side armor was vulnerable, the additional armor didn't go down to that point and that's like under 10 mm.

It was only superior on the sides, and only compared to base BMP-1/2. "Afghan" D variants were equal.

The BMP-1/2 still remained as a basic, "Afghan" D isn't something which comes by default to BMP, compared to the added armor on the Bradley.

And then stuff like SLAP appeared for the M2, which also adds some other problems as the M2 starts penetrating as a 14,5.

Ah, the much vaunted 7N39. According to Western sources, this mighty mite bullet can penetrate all known body armors, and is truly fearsome to behold.

In reality, evidently it is a fairly pedestrian tungsten cored round, almost certainly behind the latest 5.56mm AP developments, and is rated to penetrate only GOST Class 4 (roughly equivalent to Level III) at 100m. Snore.

A person from Russia who allegedly works in a company where body armor is made, says that 7N39 can penetrate ESAPI(Level IV).

Yeah, is anyone surprised that the left "tolerates" violent activists?

The surprising thing is Andy Ngo isn't even "conservative".Where he works they are considering themselves as "moderates of a liberal centrist persuasion".

Pantsir chassis is a mess of big amount of parts from all around the world, supply of which could be cut with sanctions. It is not "easily" manifactured as a lot of those parts we can't produce on our own with same characteristics and "production" of that chassis could be easily compromised by bunch of politicians outside of Russia.

That truck shouldn't even be considered a hinder of any sorts, even considering the supply chain.

Glonass-K balancing between cancelling and further production IMHO is a bigger problem than a truck.

Posted here because, oh man this game will be targeted, hope it will be doing OK though.

One time a CD Projekt Red developer came to a game conference and explained the strange way blood spreads after dismemberment in Witcher 3, it was so just because of optimization, hope Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't "optimize" this kind of small details. It really bothered me while playing that, good that he explained that at least, not so upset about it now.

But in 1916, the concept here wasn't really differentiated, I think a lot of people get confused on that. I've seen a lot of dickering for example about the Fedorov Avtomat, saying it is or is not an assault rifle. People arguing yes (like myself) will point out its muzzle energy was within a few joules of the later StG-44 "Ur-assault rifle", and that it meets all the criteria we know now.

Wasn't that just because they switched to more available ammo and then it became within a few joules to the later StG-44? As in originally being designed with a cartridge which had a higher muzzle energy.

While the M47 real counterpart was the Metis, the weight of the system put it right on Fagot/Faktoria territory.

So what's the weight of these both systems, say again? I do really want to see first, before everything else an Fagot ATGM in which the M47 is in it's territory considering the weight of the system.

Ironically no matter how many ATGMs you will compare by just the missile without the launch tube the total weight of the system remains something completely different, surprisingly.

    3 hours ago, XhaxhiEnver said:

The whole system for the M47 is 15.5 kg (with the SU36). If you want to operate by night then we get into fun territory. The TAS-5 adds another 10 KG.

Yes operating by night is truly a fun territory, considering when comparable ATGMs received this kind of sight.

What's with this selective reading indeed.

Actually both the M47 and M77.

While the M47 real counterpart was the Metis, the weight of the system put it right on Fagot/Faktoria territory.

The M77 on the other part, from A to D is firmly into Konkurs territory (from 13 to 15 kg) was still limited to 1500m EFR.

When the 77D was introduced, the Soviets had already desiged the basis of what would become the Kornet.

    What are you on about?

Metis with the launching unit is 17 kg (25 kg for Metis-M).

Dragon-2 with the launching unit is 15 kg.

The Fagot and Konkurs launching unit alone was 22 kg.

It was until 1996 stuck with an ATGM that weighed as much as a Konkurs with a third of the range and .8 hit probability.

Do tell more, especially about the weight. (about the M47 Dragon right?)

    1) T-14 turret is much more narrower compared to "western" MBTs that tend to have better gun depressions compared to "eastern" tanks. This means that frontal projection that is visible for enemy could be about same or smaller than on those "western" MBTs in hull down position.

Aren't the turrets just wide, because of the side armor on the turrets. From the front they may seem wide but the extremities of a turret is just the side armor, no internals at all.

So in situation where an Abrams will be hit in the turret side extremities, the crew would not be harmed at all in the case of an T-14 it will be a miss.

The visibility of the turret in hull down position is the same really.

The winning points for the T-14 is the fact that in cases where a turret is hit it will only have to deal with the damaged hardware of the tank not causalities and hardware.

Plus, turret down position with a commanders sight like on a T-14, where just the sight and the machine gun is seen and also no blind zones at all is considered to be characteristics of the chosen one.

Not forgetting also the delicious weight savings for not having to deal with armor on a turret for the crew.

Problem with HESH is that even against Homogenous armour result is that depending on the angle  HESH achieves measly 15~20% over 125mm HE-Frag.Not super speshful HE-Frag with base fuze but your run of the mill HE-Frag with delayed fuze.

    You mean this passage?

It is not funny, this is kind of result of their own making - screaming 24\7 about 100 of invasions of Ukraine by Buratian horse troops with no evidence or something like couple of AKs. Russian support in numbers started to appear several months after such claims started to fly around. For me turning point was rebels video with BTR-82 visible on it. Although i still viewed new Ukrainian gov. as pie of shit, so this turning point wasn't in favor of Porosh and co.

    That's interesting.

Why wasn't the turning point when russian soldiers invaded Crimea and parts of Ukraine under the letter that Yanukovych asked Putin to send troops there.Later, no surprise that the letter which was presented at U.N by Churkin was a fake and after that Churkin died and Kremlin now denies they got any kind of letter/statement.
