  1. Donward's boycott of the NBA. Still going strong.

Good on Curry (sic?) and the Warriors though. They seemed the better team going in and Lebron is so overplayed in the media.

Don't worry, Oklahoma will take the Seattle Seahawks (who also have a compound word starting with S as their name) too in due time!

....I'd say the Mariners too but, does anyone actually want the Mariners?

  2. Looks like a deformed offspring of an Su-34 and a YF-23 which would make sense for its role.

I figure one thing worth pointing out is that, unlike the really old technical sheet that has air-to-air missiles for defensive purposes, the "new" photos cut those entirely and show it with a full load of either long range cruise missiles or large supersonic anti ship missiles, which could be a sign as to why it's seen floating over the contested Diaoyu Islands in the artwork. (in the last it has no wingtip weapons, likely for an increased stealth profile.)

  3. In this edition of "real or not?" the HX bomber program I've posted earlier, now known as the H-20 (an old designation resurrected oddly) is now in full ahead mode development wise, and while that means we'll likely see some info soon, these concept arts emerged, and its debated whether theyre fake or not, normally I'd say yes, but the PLAAF is usally rather quick to dismiss unofficial photos as fakes and they haven't so... I don't know,

Another note is it actually does resemble the old official concept art and models posted, but with some slight differences.

(These are confirmed as official PLAAF concepts, but are somewhat old)

So, while I won't deem the new concepts as official, I'll simply deem them "plausible" for now.

Also, to further question this, Colli, how would the unconfirmed new photos even work if said plane was tasked as a fast medium-long range stealth bomber in your opinion as you happen to be the forums best authority on aerospace stealth designs? (It's designed to operate more like a smaller B-1A variant Lancer with a stealth config as opposed to a straight flying wing design that can operate for many days like the B-2 supposedly.)

  4. I think they specified that is was the largest built in Asia, I just left that out by accident.

They also say the 055 could have 128 tubes maximum which would give it more than the Ticonderoga.

How many of those puppies are planned besides the first two? China doesn't need to have dozens of these things.

128 tubes wouldn't be unlikely, though the test platform above has slots for 112 as there's less on the front, likely to make walking on the front "deck" of it easier for now while fucking around with electronics.

    Also, speculation is currently 4-6.

  5. I just think American ships are ugly. PopSci says the Type 055 will be the largest non-battleship surface combatant since the Tone Class Heavy Cruiser. They also compared it heavily with the Ticonderoga.

It would actually be the second if the planned displacement is correct.

Chinese estimates put it at 10,000-13,000 tons on completion, which would make it slightly lighter then the Zumwalts which weigh 15,000

It does however have a fuckload of VLS tubes, its hard to see if they're not outlined in the satellite photo, but currently 112 full size tubes so far. (and it's not uncommon for PLAN and USN ships to make packs of smaller missiles that can fit multiple missiles inside a single tube.)

  6. Type 055 "test stand" setup, note this is mostly just to design the layout and test electronics, It's not intended to go into the water as a completed ship.

Compare the above to some concept art of the Type 055 (and that it's too big to be a test stand for a Type 052D) and it looks to be actually credible.

  7. Type 1130 11 Barreled 30x165mm CIWS thats been installed on certain ships, has improved fire control and target radar for tracking/prediction compared to the older 630 and 730 models. can fire semi guided, proximity fuzed frag shells at up to 11,000-12,000 rpm for maximum kill potential on multiple fast moving anti ship missiles. It is capable to be further augmented with FL-3000 AGM/Aircraft missiles according to the PLAN.

    Gatling gun is dominate.

As of now, the only ship confirmed to be having it in active service is the Liaoning, though future indigenous carriers and possibly some destroyers will likely have it aswell.

  8. So, Let's talk Hard Chrome/Nickel Chrome finishes for slides, been looking at this one.

    http://www.rockyourglock.com/custom/RYG-CHRMSLDBRL.htm

No, I don't want to do it for looks, but rather, I do know that Chrome is exceptionally hard, somewhat self lubricating, and wear/scratch resistant if the finish is done properly (that's the part that worries me the most is if its done improperly) and can increase things like part and barrel life, one other big perk is, I live in a place where it's very humid (and next to the sea at that) almost year round so corrosion resistance is also a pretty big plus.

Thoughts gentleman? the price for doing both the slide and barrel is very reasonable to me, my biggest concern is "fuck, they did it wrong...now what?"

  9. Z-20, designed to replace some aging troop transport helos (among some other functions). Design inspired by the Blackhawk, though with some noticeable differences depending on which variant.)

    125903643_61n.jpg

Note that some earlier test versions had a blunter nose and some more curves/fins on it then a US Blackhawk, the reasons behind this I'm not certain of.
