Well, Otis lives upstream from where we fish (about 70-80 miles) so he's eating all the salmon we didn't catch.

And it was a good year with a big late season fish escapement for all of these fatties.

  2. Drill, baby! Drill!

Production at GMT 1 is expected to peak at 25,000 to 30,000 barrels a day, the company said. It is the second producing oil field within the borders of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska, or NPR-A, a vast federal land unit on the western side of the North Slope.

Yeah but that's in Craigslist dollars. Which is like $5000 normal dollars when you convert.

Granted it's hard a lot of work on it and looks straight. Still too high though.

I guess a lot of it would depend on what exactly is meant when "the mechanical work is done". Especially when said mechanical work isn't photographed.

As is, it has that neat "rat rod" feel. which is fine, in and of itself. It's just hard to justify that sort of expenditure on a Nova.

  4. Reuters article which actually recognizes that many gun owners and organizations aren't happy with the NRA and have formed their own state-wide groups to do the heavy lifting supporting the Second Amendment.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-guns-states/local-gun-groups-flex-muscle-in-state-politics-sidestepping-the-nra-idUSKCN1MI12G

These groups have become increasingly active in promoting a pro-gun agenda in many states, unafraid of alienating lawmakers who waver on gun rights. In many cases, they say they would rather lose a legislative fight on principle than compromise and support a watered-down bill.

At times, this can put local groups at odds with the NRA, which some see as too willing to give ground on the most aggressive pro-gun laws in state legislatures, said Greg Pruett, president of the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance, which formed in 2012.

“It’s always kind of interesting when you see a lot of people in the gun control community talk about how radical the NRA is,” said Pruett, whose group organized an email and telephone campaign to pass a 2016 Idaho law allowing people to carry concealed handguns without a permit, also known as “constitutional carry.”

“There’s an entire movement on the other side of the NRA ... We’re done compromising,” he said.

  5. I actually worked at a limo/towncar company several years ago after I gave the middle finger to the Seattle Weekly for the first time. So most of the work was doing towncar stuff, airport to hotel/business meetings. But we did some limo stuff too. Drove around a hoopty stretch Chrysler 300 with mirrors on it the size of postage stamps. Stressed me out knowing that I had the lives of a dozen people (either high school prom or bachelorette parties) behind me frolicking around without seatbelts while I was trying to avoid getting us all killed in the pouring down rain by crazy motorists/semi drivers/bus drivers while not murdering some idiot on a bike.

Frankly, given the sort of folks who operate towncar services, and the slim profit margins vs cost of maintenance, I'm surprised there haven't been more deaths like this.

  6. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was ready to allow international inspectors into the North’s nuclear and missile testing sites, one of the main sticking points over an earlier denuclearization pledge.

The Hamptons are a specifically popular venue for safe rooms, especially since people don't have doormen as a protective barrier as they would in the city. But of course it also provides prime bragging rights.

"People in the Hamptons, a lot of it is for people to say, 'I have a panic room.' They have indoor pools, a bowling alley, a bar, and they need something else," says Cosban. "It's a conversation piece."

  8. But muh blue wave!!!

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/410169-liberal-group-cuts-support-for-dems-manchin-bredesen-over-kavanaugh

MoveOn, a progressive outside group, said on Friday that it is cutting support for Democrats in two key Senate races because they are supporting Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

"We're cancelling a planned six-figure digital video ad expenditure for Phil Bredesen in Tennessee due to his Kavanaugh position," the group said in a tweet.

They added that "similarly [we] will be pulling all planned campaigning on behalf of Joe Manchin in West Virginia if he votes yes. Kavanaugh is unfit for the Court."

  9. And West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin will vote to confirm Kavanaugh (bringing the total to 51).

Meaning that America need not have been violated, forced to listen to a 53 minute verbal rape train from Maine’s senator.

Edit: The Leftist histrionics on Manchin’s Twatter feed is glorious.
