But commander position was already spotted and it is in hull! Only gunner wasn't seen around, so now we know where Putin put in his replacable battle bears gunners....

Oh damn, i wanted to say unmanned turret proposals for Leclerc :-( Anyway, between France was more creative than Germans in tank field, i just hope for something actually new and not Leotard 2 version number 10 or 11.

I want to point at color of internal part of that hatch - white. White is used for parts of a tank with crew :-) I suspect some talks soon about secret Putin loaders from Buryatiya or screams about turret not being unmanned and that the reason why gunner don't have a hatch in hull is be ause he is in turret!

That will be not very impressive for 2030... I suspect something just a bit creative. Maybe French designers will manage to push unmanned design based on one of Leclerc proposals.

Remember Chinese ZBD 08 IFV that looked like BMP-3 backwards? Well, during RAE a backwards BMP-3 is likely to be shown. And here is images of how BMP-3 "Dragun" can look like.- 5,219 replies

T-80s had different versions that don't have such distinct designations as T-80B, T-80U. AFAIK some of them were called "Olkha", "Beryoza" etc. I think because of this Soviet/Russian tendency to always improve design Armata UTP now have ability to be a Lego tank.- 5,219 replies

I think times changing and some European may actually push actual project to make something new. Maybe it will not be something groundbreaking (well, when last time France, UK, Italy and Germany made something grounbreaking in tanks? In WW1 UK and France did but this is all i remember), but it could be new. I just hope to see how Leclercs perfoms in Yemen to know what is actual level of European/French tank design school.

T-64, as mechanical device, have not much potential (while keeping other characteristics in acceptable levels). That's why T-72 and T-80 don't share parts with it. T-80 maybe being chassis with highest potential by 1991, as i understand.- 5,219 replies

As i said in long run this is bad idea. For fast cashing in - it maybe good, but Armata should be used only by Russian army in next 10 years, IMO.

From "Echo of Moscow" radio programm about RAE-2015. Khalitov is Deputy. Director of "Uralvagonzavod" for special equipment. ".... Naryshkin - In what state is "Armata" now, are we ready to supply our armed forces? Khalitov - Now "Armata", in accordance with the stages of development work, is being tested. We hope that these tests are successful, and are confident that they will be successful. A.Naryshkin- In what year? Khalitov - I think, in 2018, we will start serial production. Naryshkin - Is there any orders for pre-serial vehicles? Khalitov - Of course. We have a pilot batch for the parade, it is small pre-serial production. Naryshkin - At the parade there were 12 vehicles? Khalitov - 24. Twelve T-15s and the twelve T-14s. Naryshkin- They want a hundred of them? Khalitov - In fact, this figure is closed, but the Ministry of Defence will ensure a smooth entry into the serial production of this machine, it is very correct in terms of putting into production. Previously we've been waiting for, when the machine will pass all tests, it will be adopted, and only then begin to prepare the production, now this process is in parallel. We are simultaneously testing vehicles, bring it completely up to all the requirements that specified by the Ministry of Defense, and in parallel to this we prepare for production. Naryshkin - in 2018? Khalitov - Yes, it will become serial vehicle. Naryshkin - Remarkable. Kurennoy - Since our last program, and have had time to look at the "Armata" from all sides, experts discussed the pictures. Maybe you have something new to tell us? Khalitov - I'm ready to tell you in more detail, of course. Especially focus on multi-level protection of the machine, which consists of 4 systems. The first system - a system to prevent detection. We have applied this stells technology, radio-absorbing materials, special paint and rational architecture of the vehicle itself. That is, there are radiation sources inside of the machine, and so their rational distribution in the internal volume also reduces the visibility of the platform in infrared, radar spectrum. Perhaps this is the first system. A.Kurennoy- Stealth tank? Khalitov- Well, yes, we made a stealth tank. The second system - a system to prevent hitting a tank. To do this, we used three active systems. First of all, hard-kill and soft-kill systems, the technology is about physical destruction of incoming rounds like "Arena", certainly with different characteristics. It is, in fact, detects and eliminates ammunition. Moreover, the range of ... A.Naryshkin- How it manages to destroy them? Khalitov- We have achieved needed performance. A munition fly towards incoming projectile. There are special system designed to destroy incoming rounds. A.Naryshkin- Any shells from the ground and from the air? Khalitov- Any. From antitank grenade and to almost large-caliber armor-piercing projectile. A.Naryshkin- It is unkillable tank? Khalitov- Well, we can not say that. First, there is a limited number of such munitions, infinitely number of the is impossible to carry. The second technology is a "soft-kill" technology, which allows us to establish a barrier at the trajectory of approach of the round. For example, firing a special aerosol cloud, which allows you to completely hide the silhouette of the vehicle. There is a metal, in the cloud, and laser pointed atthe cloud is no longer capable to measure the distance to our tank, and thus it is impossible to define, and calculate the trajectory of the rocket or some shell. A.Naryshkin- So, there is a protection of the tank when the projectile is already flying to you, and there is protection when enemy only tries to aim at you. Khalitov- Yeah, just trying to find you. As soon as he try find it, we have to react. A.Naryshkin- You said that there is a third level of protection. Khalitov- There are electromagnetic protection. This protection is designed for the remote detonation of munitions that have magnetometric sensors, fuses. That is, the magnetic sensors are mounted on a mine or munition. You know that the tank have a kind of magnetic field, they respond to it and explode. So we created a system that detonates such mines earlier. Detect it, even if it is buried in the ground, this system detects and detonate them. Here are three active protection system. Suppose that all the two systems ordnance still managed to overcame and managed to hit a machine. So the is a counteraction to it, is definitely unique for today, perhaps in this world - a completely new and unique armor. Our Ural armor, designed specifically for this machine. And the second point - is, of course, removable modular protective devices, with dynamic protection of new generation. A.Naryshkin- These are those boxes? V.Halitov- Yes, these are boxes in which there is a special explosive. If you hit it, it explode and damage projectile, it falls apart. ....

That is exactly what i feel about them as well. I even saw a guy who made a pictures of Vector-like carabines, sniper rifles and shotguns. So sci-fi! Speaking about guns, look at head of this robot and say what you see. -
This thread is about vehicle, we have dedicated AW thread. http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/694-the-armored-warfare-disappointment-thread/ I think selling UTP/UGP will be a bad idea in long run.
