  1. It looks like the love child of a CZ75 and an STI 2011. I kind of wish the video had shown how the upper and lower pieces of the frame fit together. You can see the head of the screw hidden inside the frame that goes down into the root of triggerguard. It appears to cure two of the biggest objections to the CZ75: the lack of height of the slide to adequately grasp it and the too far forward placement of the thumb safety
  2. At least you aren't as likely to shoot yourself in the hand when your vertical foregrip breaks loose from the plastic accessory rail.
  3. The shoulder position on the .204's case is slightly further forward than the .223 Rem. It might pose an issue with certain magazines and their forward reinforcement rib. I've actually heard of someone creating a .22/.204 Ruger wildcat, resulting in a slight case capacity increase over the parent .222 Rem Mag.
  4. FWIW: Dan Coonan played with a rimless .41 Magnum as it would fit the .357 Magnum's breechface without modification. However, none of these hit the market. Lee Jurras came up with the .41 JMP wildcat for the original Auto Mag, but it was merely a necked down .44 AMP.
  5. Yeah, I was worried that Beagle wouldn't figure out that he needed to focus the Codices above all others. I've seen too many other players move multiple players into position before firing on the Codex, and then let the Codex teleport far out of their range. Then they get rifted en masse on the next enemy turn. At least none of his troopers were mind controlled.
  6. The best speed run I've seen of the Avenger Defense mission involved an errant overwatch shot by a Defense Matrix turret, which accidentally destroyed the EMP spike. https://youtu.be/x6V62cO-6Xc The unfortunate thing about Beagle's early blaster bomb attack was that it denied him a chance to get additional reinforcements. He could have potentially leveled up another four troopers during that massacre.
  7. I believe it is the same optic, but it merely has its shroud removed. The mount appears to be a bit different though
  8. Here is some additional coverage from Deutsche Welle. I posted it in the thread at TFB, but I'm no longer on their white list to post links. http://www.dw.com/en/heckler-koch-promises-to-sell-guns-ethically/a-36575103
  9. Alas, the AFT skill only provides a 4% boost to the range of the Novik's main guns instead of the skill's advertised 20% boost. WG support first lied to me, saying that my AFT skill didn't work because I didn't have a third level captain skill selected. Now ignoring the fact that my screen shots clearly showed all four skill levels, how could the game even allow a Level 4 skill without a Level 3 skill? That in itself should have been a major bug. I then responded with new screenshots with each of my selected skills circled in red. Finally, they got around to contacting the developers who supposedly claimed that the range hard cap was for "historical" accuracy.
  10. Grant and Ryan have corrupted you! I still have a bad taste from an original S9 I handled. How early, you ask? It still had the Garand-esque triggerguard safety. The trigger felt like it was never going to release. The minuscule trigger stroke combined with an uber-heavy pull made it impossible to use. I was constantly checking to see if the safety or key lock was accidentally engaged.
  11. Let me guess. You had the two capture assists which gave you a big bump in base XP. Then you have the premium ship bonus to XP. First win of the day also doubled your base XP. The uber high credits came from completing the Shipsgiving Cruiser mission. Each class-specific Shipsgiving mission is worth 1 million credits.
  12. My suspicions were finally confirmed that this footage is months old, dating back to the preview build. A lot of stuff has been nerfed by the devs specifically because of Beagle's play style. These include some of the grenadier perks, as well as the ability to launch overwatch traps and "Kill Zone" from concealment.
  13. He got cocky, and was careless. Thankfully, he chose the right troopers to stay behind. It could have easily resulted in a mission failure, if not a complete squad wipe.
  14. This reminds me that someone needs to interview George Reynolds of Knox Engineering before he gets too old. Reynolds was hip-deep in the US Army small arms development programs of the 1970s, including the Dual-Cycle Rifle and various 30mm grenade launchers, ranging from semi-shots to repeaters. You can see the rifle-attached, semi-auto in The Black Rifle. However, the longest lived was the standalone, semi-auto launcher that Knox Engineering flogged from Honeywell through to ATK. Reynolds is best known today for the bolt action rifles he designed for the Illinois-based Armalite, like the AR50. He also worked on some sub-caliber conversions for the Mk 19 grenade launcher that Armalite was trying to promote. Nate will also remember the straight wall conventional-case 5.56mm cartridge that Reynolds was trying to promote during the early LSAT program.
  15. I seem to remember Pierangelo Tendas claiming that the Ruger Mini-30 was developed for the US Navy SEALs. So, he does need to be taken with a large grain of salt.
  16. This are supposedly the patents for the 16mm Vega. (Note the patent attorney.) https://www.google.com/patents/US2466577 https://www.google.com/patents/US2466578
  17. FWIW: Gen. Crozier included his own account of the Lewis controversy in his book "Ordnance and the World War." You can download copies from the following link: https://archive.org/details/ordnanceandworl01crozgoog
  18. I bet someone has a mod to replace the schoolgirl voices.
  19. Just do the missions for the free flags and credits.
  20. Don't forget that you can use any ARP captain in any of the ARP ships. At least these will come with 6 points each when awarded, unlike the original Kongo and Myoko prize ships. The grind is a lot easier this time, just pure damage for the most part. The first time, you had to shoot down a ridiculous number of planes and sink a large number of destroyers.
  21. I really wish there was a 3 Gun equivalent to SASS that mandated USPSA/IPSC-level Power Factors. SASS shooters basically only use enough propellant to reliably clear the projectile from their barrels. To reduce bounceback from their steel reactive targets, SASS finally mandated a minimum Power Factor of 60, and a minimum velocity of 400 fps.
  22. Really, the only clean-sheet lever-action designed after 1895 that remains in production is the Browning BLR. However, it sort of looks retro/vintage. Stuff like the Savage Model 99, Winchester Model 88, Marlin Levermatic, and Ruger Model 96 have all died.
