  1. Here's a bit from the pre-PG13 era. https://youtu.be/JzHKwhrN1Lg For those wondering, "Student Bodies" was one of the earliest parodies of the 'dead teenager' slasher films of the late 1970s/early 1980s.
  2. Finally got into the Tier 4 BB SMS Kaiser. She can do some work if the enemies cooperate. Just had a 7 kill game with her: 2 BB, 2 CL, and 3 DD. Honestly, I would have lost on points if the last enemy ship, a Omaha, had not decided to be stupidly aggressive. He had finished off my last teammate, and was completely out of sight. All he had to do was run away and hide. However, I believe he thought that he could just race in and torpedo me to finish in style. To his credit. he was very good about not showing his broadside, but I was able to keep pumping main battery shells into him. He finally got so close that my secondaries put in the coup de grâce. Never charge a near full health German BB in a CL.
  3. The requirement in MIL-C-9963 (USAF) dated 24 January 1963 was for a complete penetration of a 0.135" mild steel plate at 500 yds.
  4. Actually, 500yds was the final CONARC/Infantry Board range requirement from 1957.
  5. The Mk 47 Mod 0 started off as the Saco Defense Striker, derived in part from a Gene Stoner design. https://www.google.com/patents/US5284081 However, the original Mk 19 Mod 0 was a USN design.
  6. Looks like there is already some slight set back on one side of the frame's abutment. Can you get some more pictures of the the locking piece where the slide engages it? RyeOnHam's example seemed to be peening badly there.
  7. I have to concur with the fellow in the comments who wanted to see what the locking block and its engagement surfaces in the frame and slide look like now.
  8. Some internal photos are up on TFB. The Military Arm Channel's FB page also has a photo showing a side-by-side comparison of a G17M barrel against a legacy G17.
  9. It has become "World of SMS Nassau" on the NA Server. I've seen seen so many BB in low tier matches before. It sucks to be a gunboat cruiser captain, but carrier and destroyer captains might have a field day if they play their cards right.
  10. Is it just me, or does the G17M look like it shares certain internal parts in common with the G43? It appears that the trigger housing, firing pin safety plunger, and perhaps even the locking block are borrowed from or inspired by the G43. One side benefit for the locking block geometry change would be that you could use barrels from the longer pistols in their shorter counterparts.
  11. I seriously hope the beavertail is blended better than the example pictured. I suspect that they merely recycled the frame from a Para-Ord Elite LS Hunter, and added the current Remington R1 Enhanced grip safety without any additional blending to the frame tang.
  12. I play all of the national lines. My preference runs towards cruisers, followed by destroyers. Battleships are dull to play, and aircraft carriers are annoying.
  13. My poor Svietlana is such an unlucky ship. I can't seem to find a decent team in it...loss after loss. It isn't a ship with which you can carry your team like the Kuma or Phoenix. However, I finally ground my way through it, and got the Kirov. It is a totally different game style than the early gunboat cruisers. The Kirov plays more like an Aoba or the buffed Furutaka. Speaking of the Furutaka, I finally bought it back. The new "C" hull turns it into a baby Aoba. It is so much better than when I originally tried the pre-buff version.
  14. With Ground Branch, ex-RSE employee John Sonedecker has essentially updated the original (pre-Ubisoft) Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon games with better graphics, larger maps, and more customization. Alas, some of the animations are off. The no-hand ladder climb is ridiculous. Breaching charges are placed too quickly. Clearly no one has watched how to replace a Minimi's belt box. And if your strong hand grip shows that much of your pistol's backstap, you have very tiny hands. http://www.groundbranch.com/2016/08/a-new-ground-branch-build-is-coming-soon/
  15. A couple of days ago, I finally broke down and bought some more doubloons in order to buy four more port slots. Alas, WG just announced a sale for 10 port slots for barely more than what I paid for the doubloons . Poor timing on my part, as I can't justify paying for 10 more slots. There simply aren't enough ships that I like to fill them. I was really hoping that they'd gift a low tier premium ship for WG's anniversary, preferably one from the Russian tech tree. The Russian cruiser line is kind of disappointing up through Tier 4. They are way too fragile. You really have to upgrade the modules as fast as you can in order to make them playable. I suspect your best bet is to use the Novik to train your captains into Level 4 skills before ever assigning them to the Bogatyr and the Svietlana. They really need the range boost for their 130mm guns in order to keep them out of reach of enemy ships. The Svietlana can be chased down by just about any ship at Tier 4 or 5. So you need to start damaging them as quickly and as far away as you can. I'm having a weird losing streak lately. While I have racked up multiple Kraken Unleashed awards, my teams have melted around me. I guess that is the curse of low tier matches.
  16. I suspect that it is also being fired with handloaded ammunition, so the velocity and projectile specs may not be adequate for proper accuracy and penetration.
  17. If SAR would just get their website back in order, I could find the link to HK's proposal to JSSAP for the SMG I.
  18. That is basically the entire premise of Postmodern Jukebox on YouTube.
  19. Speaking of egregious errors in advertising, has anyone noticed the bar charts the new Polycase print ad? The last time I checked, a taller bar was supposed to indicate a greater value than the shorter bar. The folks who assembled the ad seem to think that this doesn't really matter. Lower kinetic energy value for a Polycase cartridge versus a conventional type?...Let's give it a taller bar anyway.
  20. John Garand is the instructor. The kids are Janice and Richard Garand. Is Janice holding a Gas Trap?
  21. Anything you add to the rear of bolt carrier is going to need space inside the receiver and/or stock to recoil. People with HK already complain about getting hit in the face by the hump at the top of the stock/receiver interface. So you are either going to: 1) move the bump to the rear and make the face-whacking worse; 2) increase the length of pull to orangutan lengths; or 3) raise the comb and increase the offset between the bore and the sights. Now HK could move the cocking handle to the rear and even shorten the forward carrier extension. However, you would then be opening the receiver to the ingress of debris. And there would be the off-chance of cases getting caught in the top of the receiver as the carrier cycles.
  22. The issues with the CETME L have been known for years. There was even a period prior to the adoption of the G36 that the Spaniards had borrowed or bought M16A2.
  23. There are some good before/during/after pictures of HK USP slides and barrels being machined in this ARFCOM thread. https://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=5&f=29&t=69147
