USS Boxer claims to have downed an Iranian drone in the Gulf

Wonder what the response will look like. Apparently, they are going to 5% enrichment, which means that they still shouldn't be able to build a bomb with it.

I find it interesting the way Iran has dealt with Trump compared to the North Koreans. I assume this spawns from North Korea being a pariah even with their relations to China and Iran having to keep its status as an anti-American(&Saudi/Israeli) bulwark in the region. I’m starting to doubt Trump will be able to deal with the Iranians as long as the status quo in Iran and in the Middle East continues.

It would be absolutely hilarious if Trump just wants to resign the JCPOA without any changes except a new name.

I mean, this is what you should expect from a guy who has never read a book.
It looks like this stuff has hurt Rex Tillerson's old company more than anyone else so far: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-iran-iraq-oil-exclusive/exclusive-exxons-53-billion-iraq-deal-hit-by-contract-snags-iran-tensions-sources-idUSKCN1TM0IZ

NYT is reporting that the US just
worked up the courage to ask Iran to the prom but then got butterflies and didn'tplanned to strike sites in Iran, but Trump called it off while planes were in the air. -

Lets hope nukes don’t start flying.
Here’s an interesting(frightening?) paper looking at the American nuclear taboo versus Iran: https://www.mitpressjournals.org/doi/full/10.1162/ISEC_a_00284

Seems that Trump does not want to start a conflict with Iran, which is great news. I don't know if he'll be able to tightrope his anti-war stance with his strong anti-Iranian positions & advisors forever.

Is anyone else getting the sinking feeling that the big news thread for the next decade or so is going to be the Iranian invasion shitstorm thread of 2020?
Do we want to start the "US-Iran won't stop flirting thread yet" in the meantime?

I will be worried about an invasion of Iran when the US starts moving hundreds of thousands of troops into staging areas.
This is my first assumption about a US invasion of Iran, but I'm also starting to doubt that a repeat of a 1990-1/2002-3 style buildup is possible against Iran. This leads me to believe that Iran and the US would likely start a war with air and naval assets before US ground troops can really build up in the region. If that turns out to be the case, hopefully the USN & USAF can just wreck Iran's coastal installations and potential nuclear sites and forgo a ground invasion all the way to Tehran/Hezbollah launching a new front/Iraq splinters apart again/worse things/etc. The possibility that a limited war like that could still spiral into a massive commitment without it being telegrammed by mass US troop movement to the Persian Gulf.

They also might be trying to gauge the response from Trump compared to Pompeo and Bolton in addition to making the pampered Saudis ever slightly less pampered. I’m also open to the possibility that this was an accident on the Iranians a la Hanlon’s razor.

Well, that's definitely a boat. I don't know about the rest of that at this time.

Is this not the same muzzle break on this L/43 armed Pz IV? Small differences in shape(if there are any visible to eyes better than mine) may just be due to inferior German production being unable to produce uniformed pieces of technology with each piece being slightly off from whatever holotype is considered the norm.

India also seems to be claiming to have shot down a Paki F-16, but almost nothing is verified at this moment. The sky may be raining aircraft debris over Kashmir right now if these claims are true.

I loved that insane psychopath and how he would make the entire country listen to his pop music and watch him win rigged horse races.
