Holy shit this guy is fucking obtuse. It's a leaked concept. Kamov has the chops to pull off advanced helicopter design. They have years and years of experience with the engineering of coaxial rotors. Coaxial rotors + push propulsion is hardly a new concept. Not so hard to think that they might have studies that never make it past that point, or even advanced design work that never will see the light of day/mass production. Like say... the RAH-66 didn't make it to production in the states.

I really liked his books. I've purchased WoW and WaR three times, the actual books, the kindle version, and just recently on audible. Great books, and a pretty good history lesson too. I wonder what he thought of this crazy world before he went...
WoW, and WaR were both the start of some of my serious interest in WWII and a serious start of my hatred of all thing Nazi. Very influential books for me. The tv miniseries for both weren't bad either, from what I remember. Kind hard to do justice to a couple of books that are pretty vast in scope, but there were some great characters in those books.

Soon enough we should be getting photos from ImageSat showing the post-strike damage.
What's interesting though, is that the video shown in the article, shows slowly descending objects that are constantly powered.
If they're powered, they cannot be JDAM, SPICE, or SDB, i.e glide bombs.
If they're descending from a great height, they cannot be cruise missiles. Or at least, unlikely.
What should always be powered, however, are SAMs, for obvious reasons. We see no sign of a powered missile coming in the way of the alleged Israeli munitions. So this is quite a bizarre show.
One of the twitter accounts I follow figures this was mock strikes to map out AD in prep for heavier real strikes...

Brazilian River monitor, entered service in 1938, still serving.
" Entering service in 1938, the Brazilian river monitor Parnaíba is the world's oldest warship in active service.
Displacing over 700 tons, the ship has a draft under 6' (1.6m), enabling her to cruise the many rivers and coastal estuaries of Brazil. Parnaíba is armed with a 76mm gun as well as smaller weapons including two 40mm bofors, six oerlikon 20mm, as well as two mortars. " -

I'll elaborate a little, I guess the premise just seemed odd to me because the HMMWV was never designed to eat IED's and take the fight to folks in heavy urban street fighting. As a basic utility vehicle there's nothing wrong with it besides being old at this point.
I remember when the Humvee first came into service. oO
