  1. I see chubby, middle-aged guys in Desert Storm-era six-color BDUs marching in Open Carry events is a common occurrence Palestine too.
  2. Welcome back Tied. Enjoy the freedom that is the Sturgeon's House police state!
  3. Walter brings a ray of good humor on an otherwise glum day.
  4. Much of the cause of deforestation is the need for firewood to cook with or heat your home. A modernizing society that is transitioning from wood to coal or oil burners will use less wood resources which is what I suspect to be the case for China and possibly Russia. As for the United States, I think we are also transitioning away from the need for natural fibers that you obtain from wood (think newspapers, junk mail) coupled with a somewhat efficient recycling program which helps make up the difference. Finally, we've outsourced much of our "polluting" industries to other countries. In the case of logging, this means Canada which has a more mercenary approach towards resource extraction when it comes to logging (mining or drilling). Out here in the Great Pacific Northwest, the logging industry is mostly extinct and what logging is done is almost entirely done by guys operating less labor intensive big machines. Replanting and scientific advancement in terms of cloning fast growing trees is very aggressive. And the only areas of real deforestation occurs in rural areas that are being transformed into suburbs. Weyerhaeuser out in my neck of the woods () is almost more of a real estate development company than logging.
  5. Well Russia has traditionally been very supportive of Jews...
  6. As the great earth actor Edmund Kean once said, "Dying is easy; comedy is hard".
  7. Daw... This is why we can't have nice things on the Internet.
  8. Bah. We've had our one post from Mr. Williams who came here, showed the GPC flag, brandished it in front of the heathens before he rode off into the sunset, leaving us for good with one paragraph of wisdom and a deleted account.
  9. Yeah. The stuff looks kind of janky. But the commercial was funny because seals are fun. Even when a pack of them are robbing your net. Having learned the hard way, I always opt for the new gasket no matter how long it takes to scrape off the old garbage. Obviously this is short of having to perform some quick and dirty on the road/in the woods emergency repair.
  10. So it looks like they are making hip YouTube commercials for Meplat's demographic... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW3lei36D90
  11. Truth! I have no idea what the context is with these video clips or where the movie "Beyond the Ring" comes from. But it has captured the spirit of a true 1980s action movie. Instead of irony, the performers are playing their roles straight. They truly believe that the stakes they are fighting for are worth the struggle and the pain. It is a world where multimillionaires build an empire around a rec league sport. And no sacrifice is too small for the plucky underdog fighting his way to the top.
  12. That is some spectacularly good color retouching!
  13. Having watched all four seasons of Spartacus on Starz, I can assure you that is not even in the Top Ten of disturbing scenes in the series.
  14. Well that just means the money is worth twice as much Walter. Check mate supply siders! With all the shit going on in the Middle East, I can't really fault Israel for stocking up like a Doomsday Prepper.
  15. I always sort of favored the stocks in the town square approach.
  16. Hey! Back off man! I was on my mobile device bub! Fight me in real life!!!
  17. Technically, aren't the Iowa's (at least the Wisconsin) still on the inactive reserve with the potential to be called into service again? I guess the Wisconsin got stricken from the register in 2006. Edit: Also, they were briefly considering using the hull of the Kentucky as a guided missile battleship? I don't know how feasible that would be but it SOUNDS awesome!!!
  18. Perhaps. There were a couple of funny elements. I kind of chuckled at the VCR tracking gag. And I'm glad one of the Nazi henchman in the fight stopped, thought better of it and ran off. As I mentioned, I was hoping it would be more like "Black Dynamite" which sends up 1970s Blaxpoitation flicks which actually felt authentic with it's cheesy dialogue and intentionally bad production values. And I even resolved in my first analysis to overlook the anachronisms of Viagra and a reference to MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" being in a 1980s action movie because I don't want to be that guy.
  19. OK. I've watched the entirety of the video. ... And I was pretty underwhelmed. I guess my biggest complaint is that rather than feeling like a send-up of 1980s action movies, it came off as a send-up of a send-up of 1980s movies. It's like someone watched 1980s parodies in South Park or (worse) Seth McFarlane's crap and the leavings from a binge of Adult Swim's offerings and decided to recycle those jokes. Also. REMOVE ANIMEA!!! The Hasselhoff music video was pretty good.
  20. More like "Emergency Rations" for the rest of the platoon.
