  1. I'm eating lots of salmon these days. Nothing like catching it, bleeding it, fileting it, cooking it and eating it less than an hour after it was swimming.
  2. If Wehraboos reproduced sexually, the species would go extinct what with the masturbating theyd do over that gun, alt-histories of how it would knock out Abrams combined with the biological fact of the male refractory period. Sadly this is not so.
  3. I think he's confused because you dont have to cup a hotdog's balls before you put it in your mouth. Who holds a hotdog like that for cripes sake?
  4. We have a MMA guy up in Seattle who dresses up in a costume and fights crime (and drunk frat guys) like a vigilante. Look up Phoenix Jones for hilarity.
  5. Although the question is who gets to play Hapless Russkie Tailgunner. Also, since it is a Navy flick, I want the guy with the molester stache from our Navy uniform thread in the film too.
  6. Will the premise be shooting down 50 year-old obsolete Russkie Cold War era aircraft in between actual gay, naked beach volleyball scenes (cuz no more dont ask, dont tell)?
  7. Today I learned that salmon sperm (known as milt) can be used to extract or recycle rare earth elements in a non-toxic process. Apologies for not linking but I'm mobile with limited bandwidth on the edge of the tundra. Also, milt is a delicacy in places like Japan but I already knew that.
  8. OK, the "easier to unload" argument is kind of bunk. You unload the thing and check to make sure it's clear when you're done just like it's been done for 130 years. Let's stop being silly here. Both are fine weapons. Both have areas of use that overlap and that one or the other is superior over. Per Walter's OP, in the days where tax dollars are not infinite, I would question the need to arm every single patrol car with an AR, assuming the shotguns are in good enough and serviceable condition. Every burg doesn't need to arm its cops like they're putting down an insurrection in the Middle East. Not when the money could be spent hiring an extra officer or two for particular emphasis duties.
  9. How can the Germany Is A Weird Place thread go so long without German pop music? Walter, vas es los?
  10. Turtles are also well endowed with their turtlehood reaching half the length of their bodies. Just make sure they use protection lest they contract herpestarium... ... ... Bad pun aside, last fall we rescued a little slider turtle who was trying to cross the road. We named him Om and took him to a pond with other turtles on the Weyerhaueser corporate campus. We also fed him lettuces.
  11. So Tied is always feeling threatened?
  12. If you want weight savings in a soldier's combat load, focus all the attention on making lighter and more protective body armor. As for the armor, it's not like all of our infantry these days gets their bullets from these things called helicopters, trucks and APCs/IFVs. These cartridgeless guys act like troops are still marching across France on foot.
  13. Pull cords for lightswitches are OP... And per Meplat, the intensity of coverage is what drives the perception that there is more or less of a particular phenomenon.
  14. Take a hint from nature. Just be so odious and foul smelling that no one wants to mess with you. Bonus if you can contract a skin disease that is easily communicable.
  15. The Battle Flag is a far more attractive flag with its similarity to Scotland's St. Andrew flag. I really wish idjits would take some time to familiarize themselves with its origins (on all sides of the political debate). As always, the proper place for the Battle Flag is atop of 1968 Dodge Chargers.
  16. Yes but the trailers sucked and this thread is movies I haven't seen. Which still applies to me. And so help me if the new Max flick does sick I will descend on you like an eagle on a lemming
  17. It sounds like the USS Ford is more like the SNL Chevy Chase character.
  18. I spent a good portion of time working on the 2004 Gubernatorial recount in Washington state. When I get back I can share some old war stories. In short, vote by mail is terrible and we should go to electronic ballot machines where you vote in person after showing your voter registration or proper ID. Also the hysteria over this subject only reallymatters in close elections. Like real close elections.
  19. Donward's boycott of the NBA. Still going strong. Good on Curry (sic?) and the Warriors though. They seemed the better team going in and Lebron is so overplayed in the media.
  20. I'd imagine that in reality, dinosaurs wouldn't be single-minded killing machines who'd spend all their energy trying to track down homosapiens (other than Velociraptors cuz they're bad-ass like that). Instead, precautions like you'd take when out on African safari or in the Bush in Alaska would probably be more than sufficient. And if you ran into a sick or hungry man-eater that just had a hankering for human flesh, anything from a 45-70 on up would be more than sufficient with shot placement etc. That's one of the annoyances I have with movies that I'm usually - usually - able to overlook.
  21. Cast iron cooking is the way to go. *Gasp*. Zinegata and Donward are able to agree on something. When I get back, I can share some cooking tips.
