  1. Do you know how much more gun depression Chinese designers managed to squeeze out of such turret designs, as ZTZ-99A/A2 have, compared to Soviet tanks? I feel that turrets have plenty of space for gun breech to be moved up. There is part of turret frontal/roof that is visible under all that add-on cermaics, and it suggest a lot of room for gun breech.
  2. I don't know how [much] they are dump... Funny thing is that apparently Kurganets, while being 25 tons heavy vehicle, is amphibious.
  3. More like this: Nuclear reactor in the front, tubine and generator in the middle and near rear part of locomotive. Train driver would be located in rear part, on top of all that marvel. In fact, in 1983 USSR started design program for nuclear train (nuclear-powered trains were called Atomovoz). "By 1985, a variant of atomovoz was designed, with nuclear powerplant based on a fast neutron reactor BOR-60 (thermal capacity of 60 MW, 10 MW of electrical power). Locomotive consisted of three sections: middle - with 4-axial carts carrying a nuclear reactor; first and last sections were to be upgraded locomotive 2TE116, with auxiliary diesel and turbine generators. Weight of the reactor and biological protection was 140 tons. For the middle section designers planned to use parts of TEM7 locomotive."
  4. T-64BM Bulat. That torn off right side armor plate is very characteristic for T-64 after ammunition fire and detonation.
  5. Heavy IFV that was planned to be build using Object 299 chassis. Note driver's monitors right from 80s. It was planned to use gas turbine engine, mounted in frontal part of hull. Main weapon is some kind of autocannon in 30-60 mm caliber range. This picture also shows Arena active protection system - note boxes mounted on turret, near turret ring. Overall, it looks somewhat similar to T-15. Or T-15 looks very similar to that vehicle. Anyway - KIROVFACTORY > UVZ!
  6. Leo 2A6 have wedges like this, acting as spaced armor, but Chinese engineers made them better by adding ceramics/NERA blocks on top of those wedges, trying to damage HEAT jet or make it "interrupted", as i understand. If it is ceramics, it would also resist to APFSDS pretty well, causing deformation of tips/caps.
  7. UAF soldiers blew up their own tank, possibly because it was damaged. Rebels:
  8. Kurganets-25 mock-up with new turret based on BMP-3's turret. Hatches on top of this turret suggest that it is/was planned to carry shots for 100 mm gun-launcher, ammunition for 30mm autocannon, and maybe MG too.
  9. Yeah, T-15 have basically same weapons as BMPT, while it also can carry 10-14 soldiers inside, have same or better armor, and (possibly) 1500 HP engine. In future T-15 can be upgunned with some interesting weapons. On topic of 152 mm cannons, new leaked photo of the Object 195 with 152 mm gun. Test vehicle №2. 2A42 30 mm autocannon is visible. Here is №1:
  10. Leaks... they don't stop coming! Today Object 195 photo was leaked. So now you know why somebody was thinking that the T-14 can have 30 mm autocannon as co-axial weapon? T-15 heavy IFV uses Armata chassis, only backwards (engine is in the front) with strange looking frontal armor. Side skirts are removed. And it is a f cking land battleship. Note that T-15 is equipped with same unmanned turret as Kurganets-25. single 30 mm 2A42 autocannon, 4 Kornets, 7.62 GPMG. Later, it could be upgraded with 57 mm autocannon, 57 mm LShO assault heavy grenade launcher, or 40 mm autocannon. Turret: Note 57 mm LShO heavy grenade launcher on lower part of this photo. This turret have 500 rounds inside for 30 mm 2A42 autocannon, 4 Kornet ATGM with max range up to 8-10 km, There is some information about FCS: - Can search camouflaged targets with "optical locator"; - Can engage 2 targets simultaneously; - High-performance shooting against air targets using automatical target tracking at elevation up to 70 degrees; - Combat operation in remote control; - Can engage targets using external target designation; Stages of development of this unmanned turret. 1. Berezhok (turret for upgraded BMP-2s) 2. Kurganets (current turret) 3. Epokha (future system).
  11. So this "ERA" on frontal part of the ZTZ-99A2 turret is not ERA at all, but ceramics or some kind of composite/NERA. If it is ceramics, it could seriously help with APFSDS at some angles, AFAIK. That way of mounting armor is really different from Russian - in our tanks NERA/ceramics/whatever is placed inside of steel "pockets". Screws?
  12. Such secrecy, very protected, much canvas. T-15 spotted, exhaust in frontal part of side plate, and unmanned turret with 30 mm autocannon + 4 Kornets ATGMs. T-14 with side skirts/ERA.
  13. That is useful little device. Basically soft kill active protection system (like Shtora, only better and actually working).
  14. BMPT for Kazakhstan. Note that BMPT hull have number of features, that you can *sort of* find in Armata like bigger hull with 3 crew members in frontal part of vehicle, bigger sponsons and unmanned turret. Driver and 2 grenade luanchers operators with their own sets of day and night optics. inside of frontal part of vehicle, driver slightly "ahead" of other two soldiers.
  15. Without ERA (?) and side skirts. Look at those white thick cables going to those small devices on top of the gun. I almost 100% sure that those are FCS radars. One for shooting (measure muzzle velocity and deviations from it for later corrections), second one could be for spotting. First 2 rollers also have some sort of shock absorbers.
  16. Yes, i heard that ZTZ-99A2 have a laser dazzler. In fact, Soviets were working on several models for tanks and infantry, so it is not something totally new. But this particular device looks little bit different from previous model, so i think Chinese designers updated/improved it or combined with something else. Turret design is interesting, i believe that what we see is outside "shell" with ERA for an actual turret. If it is true, this turret should have pretty good roof protection. And look at their commnader's panoramic sight. Russian T-72 "Sport" had similar one (rumors say that that panoramic sight is planned to be used on T-14.) ZTZ-99A2 (sight is under HMG)
  17. Poroshenko and gifts from 'Murica. Look at Poroshenko's pistol and knife (i think), lol.
  18. That image is not right. It shows T-72, and it assume that T-72's rollers have same size as T-14s, which is unlikely. T-80BV and T-14 size comparison.
  19. I have a question - what is this device on top of the turret roof (right part of photo), that looks like combination of commander's panoramic sight with something else?
  20. I feel that Spotters are sitting on all trees around Alabino. They even infiltrated Alabino itself! T-34-85, lol. Ok, look at Kurganets-25 IFV - there is something mounted on the edge of UFP. I think those are camera systems for driver, because he is located in such place, that engine obscure driver "close" vision - he don't see 5-7 meters in front of the vehicle. There is a photo of the BMP-3 with some kind of device, similar to what Kurganets-25 have, although rumors say that this device on BMP-3 is part of "Veer" active protection system. Yeah, those 3 things looks like some kind of active protection system. Allegedly. Side armor plates are installed, they look like Relikt ERA blocks from armor package for BMP-3. Compare tracks width of the Kurganets and BMD to the right from it. IIRC they have comparable length of tracks, so Kurganets is noticeably heavier. Frontal hull is also equipped with some sort of add-on armor plates, 1 big and 2 smaller blocks at lower part of hull.
