  1. Expect black Merkava near your home... 3 ..2 ...1... God dammit, today is Saturday.
  2. Somebody tried to say something bad about Jewish God and Savior - the Merkava! Life in Black, prepare for Baal Teshuva! Anyway, Merkava 1 turret would be hard to pen for Soviet APFSDS until late 1980s. Reason is simple - Soviet APFSDS were pretty bad at high angles (we are talking about export version of Soviet ammunition), they tend to simply ricochet (yes, NII "Stali" in one of their articles about ERA noted that IIRC 30 mm steel palte at angles near 70 degrees would be enough to stop pre-"Mango" shells). Although after combat in Lebanon in 1982 Merkava 1 turret was found to be not so well protected, as it was expected. AFAIK turret was protected by sloped 76mm steel plate and another 76 mm plate after it (so it had spaced armor effect too). Pre-ERA T-64s had generally not much better armor, especially if we take into account weakspots in the middle of the turret and UFP. Merkava 1 would face something like 3BM10 steel penetrators and only later 3BM17, which means that this tank could have high chances to survive direct hit. Don't forget that turret frontal projection of Merkava 1 was only 1 m2. Try to hit that while on the move and while Merkava 1 is in hulldown postition. Generally speaking Merk1 was a not bad vehicle overall for conditions in and around Israel, which is success for Israeli designers (Merk1 was first true Jewish armor, apart from engine, transmission, gun and coaxial MG, lol), and against almost all opponents of Israel Merk1 was a very serious tank to deal with. Later versions of Merkava are different story, especially Merkava 3 Bet Baz dor Dalet and Merkava 4 Baz M.
  3. Jewish armor is best looking armor. Again, same ears. Merkava 2 with interesting UFO device. For some reason i like Merkava 3 Baz dor Dalet turret. Merk 3, i like it more than Merk 4. Merkava 4 with Meil Ruakh APS. One and only active protection system in serial production. I hate those watermarks. Merkava 3, with those mysterious ears. Second Merk 3 looks excellent. Oh god, that turret...
  4. Rebels. "Hello from Demon", this is Igor "Bes" (Demon) Bezler's unit. Note tactical marks. Ukrainian T-64BM1M for Kongo. One block of ERA is opened to allow driver to get out of vehicle. I think i should start to write about perfomance of Ukrainian tanks in that war, since active war stage is over, at least for some time.
  5. Azov got new toys. Note RCWS on those Spartans, never saw a single Spartan with this RCWS on army-used Spartans. RCWS "Sarmat": 2 ATGMs (similar to "Korsar" infantry ATGM), module can use RK-2S and RK-3 missiles (RK-2S is heavier with tandem warhead, 130 mm caliber, can pen about 700-800 mm of steel and max range of 5 km, while RK-3 is lighter, 107 caliber missile for ranges less than 2.5 km). Sarmat is produced in Kiev by "Luch". One of those Spartans was later captured in combat by Ossetians.
  6. Kharkov. 2014, autumn. Shells were produced in 1979, according to serial numbers. IDK which side is on that photo. Ukrainian sailors. One of volunteers- made MRAPs. Looking not bad. BTR-3E in use by Azov neo-nazi regiment. BTR-4 and Koguar MRAP. Poroshenko and KRAZ 'made' MRAPs. KRAZ Spartan.
  7. Ukrainian MRAPs by 'KRAZ' (not exactly - they just put their logos on those things). Those vehicles are used by Ukrainian army and National Guards (Spartan in the middle and Koguar on the right are in active use), produced by Streit Group. Not very good MRAPs. Home made protected cars. Reminds me of this:
  8. I like ERA against cats and couch-to-Internet missiles. Yeah, i noticed that too. This system is too big for simple TV cameras for driver to orientate, and little bit too unusual for commander - he could have easier-to-make single panormaic sight, as you see on Merk 4s on my pics ("CAPS" - Commander Advanced Panoramic SIght). Missile/RPG launch detection system? Thermals of some sort? IDK, but that thing is used only by Israelis, at least i didn't saw anybody else with something comparable. It may be some sort of first steps in see-through-armor systems. Anyway, Merkavas are one of not many tanks that have plenty of interesting and useful add-on non-standart equipment.
  9. Nope. Thats why they are interesting for me - they don't look like any part of Meil Ruakh active protection system. And note another thing - on top of the turret those jews mounted a some kind of mast with 4 arrays of laser detectors. Look at that picture, and you will see Merkava 4 with Meil Ruakh and 2 other tanks with something similar to my previous picture. Trophy/Meil Ruakh And those "ears". Optics for commander? For Driver? Maybe for whole crew?
  10. Rebel's T-64. Some kind of early version, i guess. T-72 of rebels in Debaltsevo. From summer of 2014, Ukrainian T-64BM "Bulat" tanks.
  11. Ukrainian T-64BVs. Ukrainian T-64BM Bulat in Orlovka. Rebels T-72, from "Somali" squad. From same "Somali" unit, T-64BV named "Avatar". Rebels, IIRC 1st Slavyansk unit. Ukrainian T-72B and Gvozdika SPG.
  12. Some others pictures of our SF. SR-2M "Veresk". This is Alpha team member. You can guess what is this:
  13. Found a pictures of pages, where reasons were showed why 2 crew is better than 3 crew tank. Table 1 shows sequence of reducing number of crew. Loader, Gunner and Driver work could be automated, leaving only commander in tank. Table 2 shows number of primary and duplicating each crew member functions. Basically what is on those pages - automatisation should be based on how workload would be spread between 2 operators, and it point at need to increase speed of targets detection and making first shot. They also look at tank computer, how it will work with crew and integration of this copmuter with other tank systems. They also try to look at how to compensate lost crew member in attempt to decrease commander and driver workload by automatisation of some of commander's work, how on-board computer will present information to crew in easily understandable way and crew comfort.
  14. And not being even slightly nazi, too. "Ukraine uber alles above ALL!" Rebels trophies. Ukrainian tank near Debaltsevo.
  15. Yakutia SOBR unit in Northen Caucasus and SR-3M "Vikhr" 9x39 mm automatic carabine. Hardingush and GM-94. Chechen Spetsnaz team "Terek" prepare to competitions in Jordan. http://youtu.be/O6GQzSKn0Sk "Terek" in Jordan. http://youtu.be/NA0CIKtZM7Y St.Petersburg FSB team "Grad". Those guys 2 years ago arrested one Islamists not far from my home. http://imgur.com/a/hji6q#2eeyE1u From 1:36 you can see some interesting things. That training with "live obstructions" reminds Alpha training, which Larry filmed.
