Great stories. Somewhat relatedly, the US actually looked into a jumping armored car in World War II. The National Defense Research Committee in spring 1941 initiated research on a series of armored cars featuring a suspension that could squat and then release the stored energy, jumping the vehicle over obstacles. No actual cars were manufactured, but a one-wheel test rig built by the Baker Manufacturing Co. indicated the machine could clear a 49" vertical obstacle or a 49-foot ditch if it was traveling at 40 mph. In typical understatement, Hunnicutt opined that "...under estimating the dimensions of the obstacle might have been disastrous."

I have wanted an M3A1 Stuart ever since I saw someone joyriding in one in the Washington DC area:
"Honey", indeed.
Moar!

Pretty sure that's an M48 retrofitted with a diesel engine. As far as I know all Turkish M60s were M60A1 variants with the pointy turret.
If we could see the front of the hull or the return rollers we could say for sure.

lol, every battle in movie version of WW3 would have been Chieftains vismods battling with each other.

Size comparisons are fun.

I have those as pdfs but I like having physical copies, too. The maps at the back look like a cool feature.

Not tank books, but today at the book store I found these on the clearance racks. Whitman press reprints of the official "US Army in World War II: European Theater of Operations" books. Unfortunately they only had seven of the eight volumes (they were out of the Battle of the Bulge volume). The good thing is that I got all seven for $40, original retail for each book by itself was 29.95. I think these are all public domain and pretty easy to download, but I like having physical copies. The most unusual thing about these are the included maps. You can see in the second picture how they have cut out blank pages in the back of the book to make room for the fold out maps.

The vast majority of the "old Patton Museum collection" is currently at Ft. Benning, though? I wonder if Garry Redmon over at Armor for the Ages would know.

The fluid on the return roller, road wheel, and tracks is slightly disconcerting when combined with the position of the right-hand soldier... -

Of course. That was just a poorly worded attempt at levity.
