More of patents related to Epokha turret
http://otvaga2004.mybb.ru/viewtopic.php?id=2200&p=8#p1272406
Looks like this is for 57 mm gun.
180 rounds 63 AP rounds and 117 HE-frags. Burst can be 3 rounds max (leight of loading sleeve allows for 3 rounds max)

Molota_477 reacted to SH_MM in StuG III Thread (and also other German vehicles I guess)
It might be thin, but it is there. At least enough interest (maybe to serve as point of comparison) two request at least two demonstrations.

Drozd APS on T-55AD, scans of manual. Source.
Drozd system detection zone (D0), tracking zone (Ds) and interception zone(Dp). D0 - 130 m, Ds - 40m and Dp - 6.6m. Each 20 degress sector is covered by 2 APS rockets, so 2 projectiles can be intercepted in that zone. Whole sector that APS is covering is 80 degrees in front of the turret.

Molota_477 reacted to SH_MM in Main Ground Combat System (MGCS) and Euro Main Battle Tank (EMBT)
I think it is most likely a vehicle design based on a reconfigured Lynx KF41 hull. The rear of the hull (which has a ramp in the center and exhaust air-vents on either side) looks almost identical.
Yesterday's capital markets day (i.e. where Rheinmetall presents last years results and forecast for the next year to investors). Unfortunately this year's slides are of poor quality, almost as if someone took screenshots from a low bit-rate stream.

And again, tankoff posted patents for Epokha turret on otvaga. First part, 2nd, 3rd (pictures of APGB, MG mount and few more). Stolen and translated for capitalists to understand, also will save here for future use.
From here - armor plates used in Epokha
6.2, 20, 40 and 50 mm thick plates were used, looks like.

Also, 2A92 maybe not an oversized AGL.

Molota_477 reacted to Roshindow in General AFV Thread
Some of the indended updates to the Ariete, not all though, there are 7 slides that "leaked"
-unchanged performance
-replacement of Halon 1301 with FM200
-removal of ITAR/EAR/Dual use components
-solving of obsolescence problems [duh]
-maximum logistical compatibility with the new armored car Centauro II
-all components are made in Italy with MIL-STD-1275D, MIL-STD-461F qualifications
-programmable digital electronics
-obscurable light warnings [I think?]
-battery power with timer to preserve battery charge
The general gist of it is modified engine with common rail tech to bring it up to 1600hp, new transmission, suspension and brakes to go with it (apparently even now the brakes could break "easily"), new optics for the commander, gunner and driver, replacement of the hydro system for the turret trasverse with an electric system, some other various systems.

Molota_477 reacted to SH_MM in Britons are in trouble
It is not the MBT 80. Three concepts were apparently considered at different times for the Challenger PIP - turretless tank (achieving maximum armor protection), low-profile tank with autoloader ("British T-72") and conventional tank (with the lowest protection level). The drawing shows the "British T-72" concept with 55 metric tons weight, carousel style autoloader, three men crew and transversely mounted powerpack (1,250 to 1,500 hp desired output).
Autoloader:
MBT 80 had central position for driver.

Molota_477 reacted to Militarysta in Polish Armoured Vehicles
It's even more complicated. Upgrade of polish 2A4 and 2A5 is forced by lack of spare parts in Leoben stocks. That's the true reson of forced 2PL program and now "quiet" mod our 2A5.
In case PT-91/T-72M1 is simmilar problem.
Look: it's detailed description which main components of the T-72M1 where produced during WarPac times:
Turret:
Hull:
PRL = Poland
CSRS = Chechoslovakia (now Chech Republic and Slovakia)
NRD = DDR
ZSRR = CCCP (Soviet Union)
WRL = Hungarian Poples Respublic

Molota_477 got a reaction from Wiedzmin in Contemporary Western Tank Rumble!
hmm, I see,
I will take care on such thing later.
200mm is based on the table of Chieftain Burlington report, but not accurate value so I just estimated it.
For now I only post them on Chinese speaking platform, and have noted about it.

Interesting that the No.4 array had been mentioned in a report of Chieftain mk5/2, would you mind share the source of this message? Title of report is ok.

CR1 UFP without cover
According to the report "Operational Requirements Committte, The Requirement to take Challenger Tanks into Service in the British Army, 7th August 1979'', CR1's turret front has a specified protection level of 480KE/600CE

Molota_477 reacted to Wiedzmin in Contemporary Western Tank Rumble!
it's funny to read about all this "weights!11"
for example T-72A hull front (UFP + LFP) 3+ tons IIRC
oplot-m hull front(UFP + LFP+"ERA cassette(without ERA blocks inside)" which is part of UFP) 4966kg
CR1 UFP special armour - 1.4 tons (1427 kg) (hull itself with special armour, fuel,ammo,engine etc isnide - 41700kg)
