If National Review is to be believed (and that is a big IF considering how fail that publication has been for the past two years) the Parkland shooter only used 10 round magazines, and not "high" capacity 30 round mags (or higher).

    https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/03/report-parkland-shooter-did-not-use-high-capacity-magazines/

And there is chatter that the weapon used in the shooting jammed (didn't he use a Smith&Wesson m&p-15 sport?)

The author is cute, but she can't write worth a damn.

Either way, it's irrelevant to write about what magazines he used. If he didn't use magazines larger than 10 rounds, they left will still claim that we need to ban "high capacity" magazines because "the carnage could have been much worse" is he had, so they have to go. I would say that the only way to make these people happy is to outright ban all guns, but we know that their world view doesn't allow for happiness. It's hard to be when you can only see the what you consider to be problems in the world.

  2. Hell, I wouldn't even consider myself an expert on ARs, or even AKs. I've built a few of each (as in, created the receiver from a legal standpoint, then fitted/assembled the rest), but there is still plenty about both of those rifles that I'm learning. Just tonight Collimatrix and I were looking to the CG and moments of inertia relative to the bore axis of an AK-74, then looking at the CG of the BCG and taking other measurements. I've also been pouring over AKM blueprints learning about the press fit tolerances for the barrel and it's components, and I haven't even gotten to the point where I know how much friction is holding them together.

I would say that I have armorer level knowledge, but realistically it's probably well past gunsmith knowledge.

Oh, I almost forgot the part where I designed a magazine for the AR that's currently on the market, and I've been working on novel AK magazine design concepts.

  3. Suddenly everyone and their dog is an expert on the AR after having the Wikipedia page roughly described to them by a drunk vagrant. It's only a matter of time until they find out (again) that people can build these things at home, ON 3D PRINTERS!!!!!!!!!1111111ONEONEONEONEONE.

SPOOPY GUST GUNS ARE GOING TO KILL IS ALL WITH THEIR 30 CALIBER MAGAZINE CLIPS IN HALF A SECOND!

Why do I have this impending sense that at some point down the road, these fuckwits will institute another national ban of some variety, and it will be even more retarded and stringent than before.

"full semi-automatic" lolwut, is there a semi-semi-automatic function that I am not aware of?

director: "ok guys, make sure you hold the rifle as loosely as possible so it looks like it has a lot of recoil. We want to make this thing look way too powerful for 'civilians' to have."

I also like how the talk to a general about rifles. I'm sorry, but what the fuck does a desk jockey know about small arms?

Seems like a damned good argument.....For using a bigger calibre!

The dude looks like Swiss-Cheese by the end of it but he still managed to drag his own sorry ass to hospital.

Or shooting vital zones with sufficient penetration. Probably easier said than done during a struggle, though.

It's a great idea - keep on ramping up the grind for higher tiers, and get everyone to need to free exp their way to the latest wonderwaffe.

They did recently reduce the XP and silver cost of rank 3 through 5 so that it is roughly the same time to grind to top tier as it was before. Some tanks saw upwards of a 60% reduction in research requirements. I remember some tanks that used to be 210k XP being reduced to 95k.

This included reducing the research and silver cost of the modules on the vehicles as well as a reduction in repair costs.

I know, if we stop arresting people, then we won't have any more criminals! Why didn't we think of this before!

So, these kids are going to have a serious problem. They grow up without experiencing any consequences for their actions, and this don't learn how to function in society. Then they get to society and learn the hard way that large portions of our culture doesn't tolerate that kind of shit, especially coming from snot-nosed entitled little brats. Sadly, there are people in our society who keep pushing for less and less punishment for criminal behavior. We see the effects of this already, and the worst part is that those people want to protect the criminals at all costs, it works seem. This stems from the thought as multiculturalism; that there is no right or wrong behavior, better or worse behavior, just different, and anyone who judges that is a closed minded racist bigot doo doo head.

  8. The raw pen is underwhelming, but the performance against sloped is 3rd best in game, and best in caliber. They also nerfed the obus G. The dart for the MBT-70 is almost certainly buffed from historical. The T-64 gets over buffed ammunition for the 2A46 compared to historical, but the very early rounds that it gets are pretty weak. They could just give it later darts that perform at the current levels. I'm almost certain that the object 120 and T-62 dart rounds are gimped as well. I have a hard time believing that a 12kg dart going 1750m/s has the same pen as an 8kg dart going 1550m/s. Unless the L23 is DU while the object 120 dart is not even tungsten but tool steel.

  9. Even the usual metric or his hair cannot be used. Maybe I'm naively optimistic, but it's possible that political cartoonists have transcended merely making a graphic of their views and opinions, and are now making art that is ambiguous enough that people on both sides of an issue can make what they want out of it. People already distort statistics to fit their agenda and beliefs, not we have something that's actually fun to do that with.

  10. The wording in this memo is crafted to sound like he is wanting to have bump stocks reviewed as to whether or not they are machine guns, but if you read it with a legal mindset, the two are never connected. He wants to review how the ATF regulates bump stocks. Easy peasy, that is just taking a look again at their process for defining them. This is the ATF, though, so they do change their minds 20 times a day, but they should arrive at the same conclusion. Then he says that they need to issue a notice that basically enforces the law as it already is. Devices that turn legal weapons into machineguns are already classified as machineguns in and of themselves by law. At no point are bump stocks and machineguns conflated.

  11. I found a cancer spot for my Chieftain. To be fair, most hull down long range spots are cancer with a Chieftain, but this one has considerable map control, as well as the ability to poke over a ridge without skylining yourself.

Not my longest range kill, but I will still take 1.68km. Also, people on the WT forums complain that Chieftains can't pen T-54 UP, even <1km. Someone forgot to tell this guy that.

In the front, out the back. That's not a visual discrepancy, either, the shell hit the sand behind him.

  12. The reason why the war has gone on for 17 years is our own fault. This war was ours to win or lose, and we decided to fuck around with pretended nation building and world policing instead of doing everything necessary to win a war. This has been the American problem for decades now. We pretend that we are going to war for some noble purpose or other bullshit, and then the war drags on for years until we get sick of it and ask ourselves why are even fighting in the first place.
