Yeah, this is far from being optimal vehicle to deal with small UAVs and drones. Its like those people don't follow Ukrainian conflict closely. This thing is going to be spotted and shelled before it will be able to get into effective range of some of drones that are used in current war (like Matrice 30T).

Wonder where they buy the tires for these things as these are not something you can buy in the West its either Russian or Ukrainian made for bazillion of swamp vehicles like Russian Sherp designs that are made  around these low pressure low ply tires , and the vehicle with no suspension and tire design with super low pressure is far from ideal for a stable firing platform

    What is Burlak ?

    an ERA ?

Its was a Universal turret program, turret could fit ,T72 ,T80 ,T90 , much-improved armor and cannon .

It had a dual cycle loader so it could load longer rounds from the turret bustle greatly increasing its firepower due to APFSDS with much longer penetrator core. No rounds outside the autoloader, which pose the main threat in case of armor penetration were stored in the tank. Overall “Burlak” project was a backup for a technically risky T-95 project.(Black Eagle). It seems both projects were cut in favor of Armata.

Unlike popular myth , the rounds in the autoloader are fairly well protected, its the spare rounds all over the tank that are most likely to blow up if tank is penetrated.

  3. Upgrade to LIDAR fuse ,so now things blow up even if they get entangled into chicken wire

    * what is with the constant use of watermarks, they are used so extensively that they should be classed as a war crime.

Any clues yet - will they be upgrading their old hulls or is the whole order newly buidlt?

New built ,Assembled in Germany , as Gemany has no tank production line , most of the Leopard 2 parts , including all hulls are manufactured in Greece these days as it has basically Europes only tank production line and its very low production capacity so tanks are practically hand built with corresponding quality issues  that come form such low rate production , like cracked turret rings that plagued Greek Leopard 2 order. Its also long wait for anything 2 years from metal being cut to first tank rolling off hence 2026-31 delivery timeframe.

At 31mio Eur per tank if you count the whole order with associated costs and spares its no wonder Korean K2 is a serious contender , they still have a hot production line vs butique Leopard production.

Do you know what the specific requirements were? Also is Trophy capable of protecting against multiple simultaneous attacks like ADS ?

I guess its has a lot to do with the Radar emissions of APS , active Trophy can be detected tens of kilometers away

Report (https://www.janes.com/defence-news/land-forces/latest/iav-2023-eurotrophy-set-for-silent-mode-capability) that the managing director of EuroTrophy GmbH (a joint venture of the Israeli company Rafael, KMW and General Dynamics to promote the Trophy active protection system developed by Rafael to the European market) Dan Kalfus said at the International Armored Vehicles (IAV) 2023 conference in London that a set of Othello passive electro-optical sensors is being developed for the EuroTrophy APS, which will allow APS to work without activating the standard Elta EL/M-2133 radar sensors for Trophy, thereby ensuring the secrecy of operation without radio emission. In 2021, the Ministries of Defense of Israel and Germany conducted successful tests of the Rafael Trophy APS on the German Leopard 2A7 tank, which opened the way for the development and promotion of the EuroTrophy variant

  6. You forgot the ad point 7

    7. where the fuck do we get new tanks.

US has been playing the Euros like a fiddle , instead of donating Abrams that is actually available in thousands , its forcing europeans to divest of their meager stocks ,  Britain , France, Germany each have only about 200 MBTs and no capacity to produce more in near term. Even US M1 that will be going to Ukraine will be on a very slow boat , new manufactured months after Leo2 start burning up

If you google up supply so far US supplied almost no heavy armor nor SPG artilery , NATO europe is practically divested of artillery ,Denmark has no single piece left due to Ukraine supply.

    4. is being set up , as unlike what folks imagine most of these tanks are fairly old A4 models that is armored even less than T72 monkey models and will go up in flames same as any other , its not like we are seeing tank duels , its mostly mines,ATGMS and artillery wrecking tanks.

Great article on how US is making best of oprotunity to wipeout German competition on international arms markets.

Behold the birth of the Cope Net!

That camo net did not stop anything, a 12kg drone crashing in at 250+km/h is not stopping on camo netting 50cm above the tank also suicide drones do not have an contact fuse but and internal impact fuse so as long it stops abrupty with loth of negative G it will go off., was anything actually stopped or just staged for a vid is another question , lots of faked shit gets posted.

How many? 2? 4? IIRC the plan for this year was 4.

I seems SU57 scored it first air to air kill by downing an Ukrainian SU27

So a grand total of 10x production SU57 are now officially delivered , the 11th one was lost in testing prior handover to the military.

Plane deliveries to RuAF in 2022

    4x Su-30SM2,

    10x Su-34M

    7x Su-35S

    6x Su- 57

    2x Yak-130s

    5x Il-76MD-90A
