  1. The earliest TM I can find in my pile of artillery books for maintenance, inventory and special tools lists that mentions the 105H HEAT-T M662 is 1973. HE timed super quick is better for direct fire battery defense than flechette rounds unless everyone is running at your gun standing upright.
  2. That was the only round that the m2, M3 and M3A1 howitzer had for that purpose.
  3. The lady and her friend at the store today learned the power of RNG. You should be careful making snide remarks about the people in line behind you (my wife and I) in your own language because the person you are making the remarks about might just speak that language as well.
  4. Some of them look pretty mangy. I have them all over the place out here. On my property there is a cold war type situation between them and bobcats. Someone caught this in a park in the middle of DFW.
  5. All our gray wolves are gone. Red wolves have been reintroduced in south Texas and the estimated wild population is around 130. We have more Coyotes than we know what to do with.
  6. CrashbotUS Same for WoT, WT, and MechWarrior.
  7. I've been boating if anyone wants to boat with me, hit me up.
  8. While the vehicle can provide much of that, with modern computing the individual soldier can provide the same data. I am still in contact with many of the guys that stayed in (I did ~16 years) and the miniaturization of much of the equipment we used it amazing. My laser designation equipment was about 50lbs without a battery, now it is the size of a .45. My GPS was the size of a 1/2 gallon carton of milk, now it is a cell phone. My forward entry device was the size of laptop, now it is a ipad mini...
  9. Having them support the infantry and not be out driving around like they are tanks is the goal. You dump out the infantry, the infantry does what infantry does, and the IFV backs them up from cover.
  10. All of the plates have leather trim sewn onto the outward facing edges of the plates to keep from cutting or catching. Here is a better picture of some similar armor from the same guy in Poland that makes mine. I'll post a better picture of my armor and weapons when I finish cleaning them.
  11. M113 aren't terrible. The A3 are pretty quick and many of the original issues with them had been addressed by this variant. I mean, if you want a basic infantry shuttle bus that provides a reasonable amount of protection against small arms and artillery, it is OK. If you need something that is resistant to mines or shoulder fired AT weapons, you should look elsewhere. It also isn't something you want to be spearheading any assaults.
  12. The BMP and Bradley pretty much fill the same tactical roles. I am still a big fan of the BTR, having had the experience training with Russians and riding around in one. The armored reconnaissance mission is something the M3 is not very well suited for, having served in a number of cavalry squadrons as the FO, they sucked. The scouts did better dismounted or in M1036. The M7 was better than the m981 but was almost always misused by the attached command and was not as good as the new M1200. The M113 has really be relegated to rear duty. Ambulances, engineer vehicles, mortar carriers, smoke generators, base security, and command variants. I know they got put into service in Iraq in their original roles due because armored hmmmv are stupid and MRAP hadn't the numbers.
  13. The armor is linen lined mild steel lamellar based off finds at Birka. It was typical of eastern Viking, Rus, Magyar, Avar styled armor. Under that I have a rhombus sewn padded leather tunic.
  14. Me on the left with the spear waiting to take the field. This was at our last competitive fight, had around 60 people from all over the southwest.
  15. I see purpose built tank destroyers as a bit of a relic. ATGM can be carried by a number of platforms, so fielding a purpose built ATGM carrier seems more trouble than it is worth. Mobile gun platforms are prefect for supporting infantry and/or dealing with other light vehicles.
  16. Curiosity tactical question. Are dedicated tank destroyer platforms really required in the modern conflict?
  17. At least in the US Army, we did it like this. Vehicle lost, get in another vehicle in the platoon. Squad lost and vehicle serviceable, squads from platoons in the reserve company move up. Significant vehicle losses operate as standard leg infantry and be folded into remaining sections.
  18. Yeah, because people didn't study their target identification cards. 17 of 20 lost to fratricide doesn't reflect poorly on the vehicle. I believe another 12 were damaged but serviceable.,
  19. I have had nothing but loss after loss since the last wipe-o-patch. I got so mad last game I just started playing peggle.
  20. I'm more casual with my gaming and I only have ~5k in WoT since I started playing several years ago. I tend to bounce around between a bunch of different games. Although I have become increasingly frustrated with WoT for some reason lately. I've been running up the Russian tree in WT and aside from some annoying game faults, it has been mostly fun. I only play the RB and I like the pace of the games.
  21. IFV work fine if they shuttle infantry to their location near the battle space and provide over watch/anti-tank capabilities from concealment. They also work well for rapidly exploiting holes in lines, rapid counter attacks, passage of lines, and rapidly moving infantry up and down the line. The problem comes when commanders start using them as spear points rather than portable fire support platforms and battlefield shuttle buses. The M3 is OK in the armored cavalry role. I've always thought it was a little too big but it does the job it needs to. There are probably better options for this role, however. I recall going from the M981 which was a terrible vehicle to the M7 BFIST and having commanders of the units we are supposed to be providing fire support for moving us down off our OP and filling gaps in the line with our "extra 25mm", basically rendering our superior visual range and laser designation capabilities useless.
  22. Picked this up from a family member recently and added to the collection. 1946 Marlin 336C 30-30. Going to go shoot things later. Lots of space and not a lot of neighbors.
