  1. I found it to be rather loud and with an excessive muzzle flash. I agree, it might just be a pricey range toy. Minister of Finance will likely not sign off on another firearms purchase this year. Despite what seems to be the popular opinion I've noticed here, I rather like the XD .40 I have for daily carry.
  2. We did the same thing. If there is a way to get around cleaning rifles, soldiers will find it. And I am proud of my little contribution of band tshirts, cassette tapes, and other swanky western items to my family in the Украї́нська РСР. I hope they found their way into some soldiers hands and helped him sham out on duty. On an actual firearms related note, I had the chance to put a few rounds down range with a FN 5.7 and I am still on the fence about it. Anyone have any thoughts, pro or con, about it?
  3. The good thing about all the land, despite the now polluted river? No animea for miles.
  4. I liked The Incredibles but my company had an ad partnership with Pixar during those movies and got enough Incredibles to last me 48 lifetimes.
  5. Racing to be first in bread line We had one of these when I was a kid. Behold the 1971 Moskvich. My dad was always tinkering with it to make it faster. I just remember is sounded like a lawnmower.
  6. My sister owns a couple hundred acres that butts up to the Animas river. She isn't very happy right now.
  7. The latest Fantastic 4 movie was incredibad. Think worse than the first one but without Jessica Alba to look at. Glad I saw it for free.
  8. You can find some pretty faithful and functional recreations of period bows for reasonable prices and several reenactor supply sites/shops.
  9. I lived Waco when I was stationed at Ft.Hood. It is pretty much like that with an added crowd of Baylor University kids sprinkled on top. As far as protesters fighting back police lines effectively? Line fighting takes practice. I couldn't imagine a gaggle of protesters getting together and pulling that off without prior training. Now if you could get some people together to drill before a planned protest, you could form an effective enough group. Proper shields are easy to make. We made about 60 36" 7mm cabinet grade Baltic birch shield blanks in an afternoon. The Oath Keeper types aren't helping that situation at all. I think they exacerbating an already volatile situation. On the plus side police reaction to them in comparison to the protesters is only helping to drive home some of the points the protesters are trying to make.
  10. I will destroy an entire room if I see a spider. I have a strong dislike of them.
  11. Penny Dreadful is pretty decent. The Strain is actually pretty good. Falling Skies isn't bad but there may be some shark jumpage going on.
  12. I remember being all excited about VR back in the 90s. Needless to say that excitement waned almost immediately after putting on a pair of those goggles.
  13. Come visit, we have plenty of burgers to share. (also, bring me a BRDM) http://www.dallasobserver.com/restaurants/dallas-10-best-burgers-7024055
  14. TIL that anime cannot be removed. No matter how hard I try.
  15. Ok, who is going to shop an M1 with a giant Abraham Lincoln head sticking out of the drivers hatch?
  16. Meanwhile at the Viking and Slavs festival in Wolin, Poland.
  17. Engaging tanks with artillery was really our secondary mission. We typically wanted to hit infantry, C2, strong points, and softer skinned vehicles. If the opportunity arose, we would attempt to break up tank formations by peppering them with HE-PD, HE-VT and DPICM with the intent of causing mobility kills, damaging external systems, and then allowing direct fire weapons systems to engage. Back then we only had one round that was specifically for killing armor. The 155mm M712 cannon launched laser guided projectile. It packed 6.5 kg of comp b in a shaped charge. It is incredibly accurate, but typically not used for picking off the onsie twosie tanks but was reserved for high value targets. I know this will set off ERA and pretty much ruin most tanks day. I've seen this one in action.
