  1. Napoletana style with sausage, hot soppressata, san marzanos, mozzarella, and basil or Napoletana style with mozzarella, soppressata, san marzanos, bacon marmalade, and honey habanero drizzle.
  2. That last part is where we got off track. I don't think the arrow is stopped. I think the transfer of forward momentum is increased onto the shield when it is allowed to swivel vs being solid braced. It is reducing the arrow but it won't stop it from penetrating the shield in most cases. The facing is what keeps arrows from gliding right through.
  3. I did, but it was a long time ago. My electrical engineering degree covered in dust. I think we are getting something lost in communication here. There is this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsZnTCQptWc#t=218
  4. Right, but if you brace it, the arrow is more likely to penetrate than if you allow the transfer of the forward momentum of the arrow to carry through the shield as it turns. It works the same way with a spear. If I put my weight behind the shield and make it a solid surface, you can punch right through it but if I allow it to swing loosely in my hand, the spears forward momentum will transfer to the shield and turn it. It will continue forward but at the angle in which it was deflected off of the shield.
  5. Amateur hour, Mr.Paul. Pitmaster sandwich from Pecan Lodge. (Brisket+Pulled pork+ Sausage, topped with slaw, bbq sauce & fresh sliced jalapeños) for 9 glorious dollars. Hot mess from sam BBQ place (Jumbo sea salt-crusted sweet potato, South Texas barbacoa (shredded brisket with southwestern seasoning), chipotle cream, cheese, butter & green onions.) Also 9 glorious dollars. 'Murica.
  6. The point is, the arrows don't just breeze through shields. If one is gripping a shield properly (not a death grip) the force of the impact will swing the shield in your hand and the arrow will end up sticking in your shield. I don't think the video was suggesting someone is attempting to parry an arrow with a shield by meeting it mid flight. That's silliness. This does require a properly constructed shield. As I mentioned before, a unfaced shield will split and leave you filled with arrows.
  7. I suppose if you speak to the point about "defecting arrows" like some super hero? If you aren't death gripping the shield and you catch a projectile or spear on the edges, it will swing from the impact of the projectile (like it should because physics). That said, if you have a plain linden wood shield, projectiles have a better chance to bite and the shield will split. At that point you will be filled with arrows, axes, or spears.
  8. Rawhide faced shields are pretty effective at deflecting and reducing penetration of various projectiles. However, Dane axes will obliterate flat faced shields.
  9. Not ghetto, just different. The sausage is probably the same or similar, I just get mine at a local eastern European deli. The cheese I use is just cream cheese from sheep and the bread is similar to a bagel.
  10. Many units are filled with criminals, like Donbas. Some are far right like Right Sector, Azov and Aidar. They all care less about Ukraine and more about fighting just for the sake of fighting (and making rich people richer). Azov battalion is using blatant symbols. The black sun symbol sort of resembles Merovingian brooches but more closely resembles symbols from Wewelsburg castle mosaics and is tied to German mysticism and Nazi esoteric nonsense. The wolfsangle they are using isn't part of the runic futhark although it has been around for a long time and is still used in German heraldry. Although in both cases Azov is using them to represent their Nazi symbolism.
  11. I have two; Smoked ham, Comte, butter, baguette. Kovbasa, bryndza, bublik, mustard. Now I am hungry and have none of the above.
  12. I didn't see one destroyed here. Just a small arms firefight, what looks like a broken down M! (that seems functional as they moved the turret to travel lock), and an air strike on a hut?
  13. Most of their night actions did more to cause psychological stress among American troops than they resulted in any real tactical victories. Like the Tenaru night time frontal assault that got ~775 of the 900 soldiers that participated killed.
  14. Viking. There are already a few in the US, Ravensborg is a pretty large one. Of course Wolin Poland, Trelleborg Sweden, Foteviken Sweden, and Moesgaard Denmark have some really awesome ones. I've been to Wolin, Trelleborg, and Moesgaard for reenactments. Cool places.
  15. That was the most depressing thing I read all month.
  16. We have been discussing building a long house by hand. If we do, I'll film it.
  17. It would cause sites like Jezebel to collapse into its own singularity if these magazines still existed.
  18. I walked by this bar while this was "playing" last week. These people all need removed.
  19. Juniper networks outsourced vendor support is downright infuriating.
  20. It's pretty hard to "pull yourself up by your boot straps" when someone keeps stealing your boots.
  21. H1B is just a way to avoid paying people what their skill set would demand in a real free labor market. Which we don't have. At all.
