Do you know when production of the M4 stopped at the Detroit Tank Arsenal, and how long refurbishment went on for after that?
-
I like how the captured T-34s are just "medium tank".
-
Question of my own, did this production schedule ever come to pass? Was there such a thing as an M4 Hybrid with a 76 mm gun?
-
I actually just finished writing an article on the M4A6 for Warspot. @Jeeps_Guns_Tanks also has the RD1820 manual, IIRC.
-
Maybe the French were designing an improved cast and welded hull Sherman by combining all the features they liked about the existing ones.

Ivan: Yuri, remind me what weapons a tank has.
Yuri: A tank has cannon and machinegun, comrade!
Ivan: Hm... I feel that, somehow, we need to add more.
-
Well if they are the same size, then it's definitely not an M4A4!. How can you tell the difference between an M4A2 and an M4A3 hull?
-
An M4A4 blueprint from AMX. Was there such a thing as a large hatch M4A4? I've never seen a photograph of one.

That's some extremely good shit right there. I love all the crazy attempts to staple the 17-pounder (for some reason called 16-pounder) gun to obsolete tanks.

I found this in Hunnicutt's Patton:
Interesting, I guess that could be it.

The barrel isn't long enough.

@Jeeps_Guns_Tanks have you heard anything about this 81-caliber 3" gun? I've never seen this brought up anywhere before, I assumed all work was abandoned in favour of 90 mm guns.
Also interesting to see that the British still consider the 8.8 cm KwK 36 interesting as late as 1945, the Soviets had stopped considering it after 1943.

Trumpeter needs to change their logo to this:
Shame that they are the only source for a lot of Soviet subject matter.

In awe at the size of this lad. Shame that Grigorov doesn't work in 1:35th scale, he has a ton of unique stuff.

There's another symmetrical plate, so I doubt that there was a penetration in the other DV slit location too.

I saw the Canadians pondering about putting a 75, and even a 76 mm gun into the Ram, but it never panned out. I think the M3 breech is bigger than the OQF 75 mm (correct me if I'm wrong), so only the latter fit.
The Soviets never received a Ram tank, I think they were just interested in the casting technology rather than the end product.
I thought the Ram Towers had no turret, which would help out with the speed.

Speaking of Buffalo, click on my Warspot article about the Grizzly so I get more page views: https://warspot.ru/11926-seryy-medved-prihodit
No English version, Wargaming owns my soul now.

The Sexton pilot definitely had at least three sets, since they tested CDP tracks on it as well.

A tangentially related question: I see Lieutenant-Colonel Fulton's promotion mentioned:
"The appointment or Lt.-Col. F.F. Fulton, R.C. Sigs, as G.S.O. I (S.D. Tech), has been confirmed (2503, B May 42). "
What is GSO I SD Tech? GSO is probably General Staff Officer, but I don't know what I or SD are. Interim Senior Director?
