"For guidance, the SB1-M bomb used two heat-sensitive photocells placed behind focusing lenses in its nose. One photocell was used to scan vertically, the other horizontally: a rotating modulating disk in front of them "break" the incoming thermal radiation line by line. The signals from both photocells were amplified and converted by the corresponding logic circuits into commands for the control system". Requirements for it were issued in august of 1941 hovewer war and german air raids on VEI constantly delayed development beyond mockups and aerodynamic tests until 1944-45.
