  1. Yes. As you may know, I found it with Solomon’s blog. They have lost ACV, now AAV-SU ? They keep the NGAFV on track for MPF.
  2. That’s the goal. This kind of shape is the best to suppress shadows. The PL01 is a low observability design demonstrator. It’s so natural it can’t catch your eyes compared to the KV41 wich is more basic. I hope CV90 MkV will have such a stealth design.
  3. I’ve understood the AAV-SU upgrade program is now cancelled. Am-I right ?
  4. Turkish touche ? With Trophy ? Good
  5. These colors are tasteless. It’s a faux pas which call for direct elimination.
  6. So you will face the following problems : - you restart the selection wich is a waste of time and money ; - you run the risk to have two different auto canons and turret with added costs (spares, training, maintenance...) ; - you run the risk to select an average vehicle (turret+chassis) not the best chassis available ; - you won’t be able to upgrade your turret fleet the same way. Hanwha must an other partner if Rheinmetall is candidate. Maybe CMI.
  7. Every vehicle can work in deserts or in mountainous forests. It’s more a problem of air cooling. The problem of K21 is the turret. Australian Army want a 30mm autocanon but Korean companies don’t have such a thing. It would have been easier for everybody if the Lance had been called. Competition would have been concentrated on the chassis properties.
  8. On the road to Australia ?
  9. And Australia won’t pay the massive fuel consumption of tank heavy APC. With Israel, life is easy. Tank parks are no more than 1km far from the front line. They don’t know what is a long logistical train. They don’t have railway. When a Namer is destroying a road by its own weight, it’s not a problem. The road is Palestinian one. I can image the Australian staff : - « Gentlemen, our Namer strong brigade will counterattack Chinese force 1000km away from it. - Sir, yes sir. But the strategic reserve will fall short of fuel after 200km. - ok, no problem. We will wait in Canberra to strike them deep. » I can remember how easy it was to destroy French roads with the 15t only heavy AMX-10RC.
  10. My bad. I forgot to read the last word of the question « hull ».
  11. Because nobody wants a Namer like solution, especially in large countries.
  12. At EuroSatory exhibition, PSM representatives were not so optimistic. The order of priorities will play an important role. The request today is just for a 30mm auto canon.
  13. Yes. But it’s written now. Moving from a 8 to a 6 men section is something serious.
  14. Yes. I can’t remind its exact purpose but it can : - detect targets ; - guide barrel launch missiles ; - detect incoming threats.
  15. Do you remind of a former system wich was supposed to intercept aggressor with a metallic net ? Maybe, it was called retiarius.
  16. The most important news : 6 men squad. The SPz-Puma can participate and other contenders will save plenty of room.
  17. There are different points to consider. What is the very interest in using Mk4 as an Ofek chassis ? None. Pikud are spending their live concealed prying not to be detected. In a country facing a daily risk of war, priorities must be the ruler : - 1% can represent a company ; - Mk2 are free. So you can use the budget somewhere else ; - facilities capabilities are a natural regulator. If it takes 100h to manufacture an Ofek and 400h for a Namer, there is no choice.
  18. It depends. Tsahal’s got hundreds of Mk2 chassis and nobody needs hundreds of pikuds (but China and India of course). And we have to keep in mind the Eitan pikud to come. So what is the interest of the legacy clamshell ? Tsahal is specific in that it use heavy patrollers on old tank chassis. They are mixt of patrol vehicles, APC and observation posts. On the other hand, if the rebuilt of a vehicle is limited, you save money and you’re shortening « time to market ». The clamshell configuration is not a problem for patrolling. The vehicle will keep it closed as a rule. So, Tsahal can have two dedicated options on the meantime : - APC rear ramp for pikud like use ; - the less expensive and faster to provide clamshell legacy design.
  19. The platform is nothing more than a chassis. So it’s possible to develop a full family of AFV (starting with an ARV). Look at the BAE MPF proposal. I’m sure one can design ARV, a light APC. Nothing complexe. Look at the Ofek. It’s a former Merkava Mk2. Look at the Turk Kaplan.... Yes. When I sarted, recon was only relying on observation to detect. For more than 20 years, a new concept has been completing recon : ISTAR. This FSCS is a real ISTAR and can the kind of concept you were calling for on your blog. Look at the Lancer of the TRACER program :
