I'll just put on my Glorious Russian ANA Noch 91M uniform with Urban Kamysh camo and nobody will be able to find me! Sidenote: Those pants are so freaking comfortable to wear I bought a few more.

Sidenote, the "Template Unsafe Area (TUA)* " for cruise missiles is hilariously big. A TUA is basically an overlay for a map. Put the origin of the TUA over your firing position and 'aim' the TUA in your firing direction. Voila, you now know what area is dangerous to be in in case something goes wrong. For firearms it is more or less a cone in front of the weapon, with a template for the target area for shrapnel, ricochets, etc. Artillery includes an air corridor, making it 3 dimensional. The TUA for a missile is hilarious because it generally includes the area the missile can end up in case: 1. Guidance goes haywire; 2. You lose control; 3. Self destruction does not work. In other words: The TUA of a missile is a dome with the absolute max range of your missile as a radius. It is one of the reasons we do not do live fire training with our Patriots. Officially we'd have to evacuate half the country. * The Dutch army calls it "Mal Onveilig Gebied (MOG)" which translates to "Template Unsafe Area". I do not know the official English term.

I perform about as well in the T-34-3 as I do in the Type 59. It doesn't need a buff, people just need to learn how to handle a lack of gun depression.
-
I'm calling bullshit on that by the way. T-34-3 getting -5 gun dep? Thats retarded, and not needed.

Luckily my pet peeve is something is everybody can agree on. Except for the whole "the AK and AR don't deserve to have a place in a modern army"-thing.

How and why shape stabilised projectiles work
Bronezhilet replied to Bronezhilet's topic in Ballistics Science Discussion
This is quite interesting, because it would in theory mean that the round experiences a massive amount of drag during the first part of the flight. But only if the cone is straight. But the sub/transonic area in front of the flat part will most likely bend the lower part of the mach wave towards the edge of the flat face. Of course the higher the velocity the smaller the sub/transonic area so at some point the mach wave will more or less hit the flat face. So the flight envelope is actually bigger than I thought it was, because the mach wave isn't a simple function of the airspeed. Edit: Basically the sub/transonic pocket has a bigger effect on the stabilisation capabilities than the velocity itself. -
But one of em is aiming at the ground. "Do not aim at anything you're not willing to destroy" ... ... HE'S WILLING TO DESTROY EARTH Anyway, during the attack a bunch ran around with Beretta M12s, which was quite interesting imo.

You should read "Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer, "At Leningrad's Gates" by William Lubbeck and of course Tigers in the Mud by Otto Carius. Reading those changed a few of my impressions of the Wehrmacht.

How and why shape stabilised projectiles work
Bronezhilet replied to Bronezhilet's topic in Ballistics Science Discussion
Sidenote, the Mach wave doesn't, for some reason, start at the flange. The design in my post has it, and I assume a bigger model has it as well. But with a bigger model the Mach wave might start at a different place. It all depends on the size and shape of the flange. Interesting to note, the tail section of the HEAT shell more or less follows the subsonic pocket behind my projectile. Also note that in my simulation and your photograph the Mach wave isn't a nice cone, but rather a slightly inverted ogive. It's also a bit difficult to see where the Mach wave ends in the photograph because of the airflow around the edges of the flat bit. -
I thought there was at least one sane group in the whole conflict. Guess not.

Pssh, he doesn't need nukes to bring down Cali. At this point, a match would be enough to burn it to the ground. -

Dude on the right has a Kamysh Urban pattern camo, but what does the dude on the left have? Some sort of Urban Woodland variant?
