Question: is it a correct thread for this vehicle? Or i should've been posting this in German vehicles thread like @2805662 did with his photos of this vehicle http://sturgeonshouse.ipbhost.com/topic/11-stug-iii-thread-and-also-other-german-vehicles-i-guess/?page=49&tab=comments#comment-133254 ? ... 10. those two pictures are from this article https://www.idf.il/אתרים/חטיבת-הנחל/האיתן-של-הנחל/ which also has a video on Eitan. Some screenshots from this video: some changes are noticeable comparing to this: parts of the same footage also appeared a month ago in another video, which also has more footage from different angles and from inside the vehicle: screenshots:
  11. A couple more photos (from varoius bulgarian websites):
  12. Army Recognition's video - interview in french about Jaguar EBRC and also they've filmed this vehicle from different angles, for example: more screenshots https://imgur.com/a/0mqOVX8
  13. May be they'll show it later Army Recognition's video on that robot-carrying version of Titus
  14. well, there was a 3,5 yr old video from DefenseWebTV, and they explained a thing or two about it's capabilities, and around 1:00 this 3d model shown doing what appears to be an change of ground clearance btw loooking at this photo: (from link to twitter posted by Ramlaen on previous page) there: it seems like that wishbone axle is not parallel to ground, like if it's and adjustable and set in position of shorter-than-normal ground clearance.
  15. Pavlov-and-Pavlov's article about object 279 in Technika i Vooruzhenie 2015-06 does mention some studies of 1955-1958 on the subject of non-metallic filler for composite armor, and it also has this picture of what appears to be an proposition on use of composite armor in frontal part of 279's hull. Apparently it went no further than that, and remained a paper design. (Though maybe i'm misunderstanding what's been said in that article.) In lower part of this image there is a spreadshit on the right, located allmost inside cross-section #4, and it shows - for all 4 cross section variants - numbers for surface, and numbers for weight of 1cm thick slice of given composition. And also it shows which part of this area and weight refers to steel and which part of this weight refers to armor filler. I've divided numbers of given filler weight on given filler area, and got density of about 3.2 kg/cm3, same for compositions 2-4 ... Speaking of heavy tanks, one may remember Chelyabinsk's object 780 of early 70s, which was described in "Morozov's diary" as a 49,8 tonnes vehicle, 9-11 tonnes heavier that Leningrad's 225 and Kharkov's 450.
  16. Concept of 40-ton tank was also mentioned there http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a358002.pdf (proceedings of 1998 Combat Vehicles Conference) on some pages starting from 46th (accoring to a pdf viewer page counter) https://imgur.com/a/IOJcNHT This conncept without a doubt appeared on pages of magazines of that time too, though a lot of those of those are not available on the internet now, like Jane's IDR for example. I mean - this russian article on wartank.narod.ru was taken from Zarubezhnoye Voennoye Obozreniye (Foreign Military Review) magazine, 1998-12. And there were articles in polish magazines like Raport WTO and Wojskowy Przeglad Techniczny i Logistyczny which talked about this this concept or at least printed pictures of similar vehicles
  17. photo of this model with open rear door: it's a vehicle based on Kharkovite's tank with compact "suitcase"-shaped Kharkovite engine and two gearboxes T-84 cutaway: T-80UD: Achzarit has passageway above some parts of the transmission, and next to both an upper half of its transversely-mounted engine (which is shorter than V2-derieved diesel, so it leaves some space for lower part of passageway) and cooling system On the other hand it seems like if this Kharkovite BTMP-84 has passageway (judging by what it shown on model's photo above - it's floor panels are entirely horizontal, unlike some of those on Achzarit) located above left part of its engine and one of the gearboxes, and next to a cooling system. Which sould've been redesigned to make it narrower (albeit higher, probably, - but passageway's roof should be somewhat higher anyway), and also they've probably removed that red boxy thing and put it somewhere else
  18. that picture with "M1A3" and "BLK III" appeared on page 171 in this document A historical summary of the Armored Systems Modernization program and the lessons learned from its interaction with the acquisition environment which is also available there https://calhoun.nps.edu/handle/10945/30593
  19. It's interesting. Presentation (which contains this page) which available now on ontres.se is 110 pages long about 2-and-a-half years ago i've downloaded on my computer presentation which was 119 pages long. Apparently it's exactly the same as one available now online, except for some pages on tank protection https://cloud.mail.ru/public/FVLe/iUZw87trH (according to Chrome history file, which i've backed up in dec.2015 and still have now, this pdf was without a doubt downloaded from ontres.se https://i.imgur.com/ysAJQgr.png) ... new link https://cloud.mail.ru/public/579x/2Z1Bqxm2m
