    I would love to see a cost analysis of early automatics including the C96, P08, M1907, Mannlicher M1901, etc. with some revolvers thrown into the mix.

    First time I have had a chance to look at a Steyr-Roth M1907: The end cap is essential to the operation of the pistol. The barrel and bolt float together until the barrel unlocks after being cammed by both the barrel bushing and cam tracks within the bolt. Every part is magnificently machined on these, and some say they are the first modern striker fired pistol due to the pre-cocked yet double action function of the trigger. Habsburg cavalryman would carry three. Two sinched to the horse, and a reserve piece on their body.

    I talked to Skip the other day. He sent me one of those takedown ARs he makes. It is a gimmick that I will have a hard time doing a video on while justifying the price to the audience. Seemed like a nice fellow.

    They are so limited in what they can do relative to a rifle or shotgun. I appreciate the engineering and design elements of some of them, but they lack the power, accuracy, and versatility of a rifle.

    Not sure really. That was all Patrick's deal. Truth be told, I absolutely fucking hate pistols. If you ever see me shooting one, it is for the purposes of a video/article or because I have to shoot someone.

    If they would fix the silly mag release button and change the trigger a bit so it has a clear stacking point it would be absolutely fantastic. However, at $800 they have priced me out of it (and presumably most US consumers). I say we blame the Italians for any deficiencies.

    Because we all know that the metals in Heckler und Koch firearms are forged in the heart of a dying star, quenched in a sacred blend of the tears of Baby Jesus, and the sweat of Chuck Norris's nether-regions. The polymers are made from the horns, hooves, bones, teeth and marrow of Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, the very goats that drew the almighty Thor's chariot, when they were left behind at the peasant farmer's house after slaughter for Thor and Loki's meal. That peasant farmer and his village were the great ancestors of Edmund Heckler, Theodor Koch, and Alex Seidel. They are test fired in the space between dimensions, and double-gravity-drop-tested twice from the gravitational pulls of two planets colliding together, under supervision from Stephen Hawking and Carl Sagan. It's said that through the eons of the universe, it is destroyed and formed again and again by naive mortals who do not understand the power they hold in H&K firearms.

    I have never understood why people place the 550 series guns on such a high pedestal.

    I will say that I met him and he was a very nice guy. He is also very short.

    Next discussion of theirs should be "we will review your gun, but we require you give it to us in addition to a nominal fee". If you know how much they charge for a "review", it would blow your fucking mind. And of course that in no way effects their objectivity I'm sure.

    Just tell them you charge an absurd amount per article. Been doing it for years and the responses are always pretty funny (when you actually get one).

    I once got absolutely grilled in a youtube video where I mentioned my carry piece only has an 8 round magazine capacity. The majority of comments were that if you don't carry a full size handgun with at least a 15 round capacity, it is pointless to carry.

    Interesting. Pretty neat to see SF guys involved in such a competition. My ignorance stems from seeing American mall-ninjas doing that same stuff with more or less the same gear.

    LoooSeR, are those guys civilians in a competition or some kind of paramilitary type group? Is it possible to obtain those kinds of firearms in Russia? I only know one guy in Russia who owns firearms, and he said he has owned a shotgun for a while but is still in some kind of long waiting period to get a rifle.

    Because the US was still thinking "hey, I bet if they start shooting at each other we can make a lot of money off of it" in 1914, among other reasons (like that device hadn't yet been invented).
